The “Konin”Brown Coal Mine

The “Konin” Brown Coal Mine is

located in Greater Poland. It is the

only lignite open pit in Poland

operating after joining the European

Union and still operating

(zepak.com, 2021). In the interwar

period, lignite deposits in the Konin

area were examined and

documented. Duringthe occupation,

Germanswere the first to start the

exploitation of raw material. After

the war in 1945, the mine was

officially established as “KWB Konin”

(BrownCoal Mine Konin).
