FLAVOURS IS BACK
The region’s largest food
and wine event – Flavours
of Mudgee – will return this
year after a two-year hiatus
on Saturday, 24 September.
More than 70 stallholders
will have the region’s best
food and wine on offer in
the picturesque Mudgee CBD
along Church and Market
Streets. Council is expecting
a huge turnout for the return
of its flagship event and locals
are encouraged to secure
their $25 tasting packages to
avoid disappointment. The
$10 kids package will make
its return, including three
tokens to select food vendors
as well as a souvenir cup. Both
packages can be purchased at
flavoursofmudgee.com.au from
early September.
Flavours of Mudgee will be
held on Saturday, 24 September
FLAVOURS KIDS PACKAGE RETURNS
FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK
It is fantastic to see
Flavours of Mudgee finally
returning after a pandemicforced
two year break. I
know this event is a huge
favourite with locals and
visitors alike and I would
encourage everyone to
get their tasting packages
quickly to avoid missing
out. It’s going to be the
biggest party in Mudgee
this year!
You may have noticed
new shade sails popping
up around the region’s
playgrounds. Council has
just completed a major
rollout across the entire
region after successfully
securing NSW Government
grant funding. This is
something that has
previously been raised by
the community and I am
pleased with the significant
progress we have made
to install more structures.
Council is committed to
delivering shade across
its owned playgrounds
throughout the region
where possible.
You’ll read inside that there
have been some changes to
parking in the CBD. Some
all day on-street parking in
Market, Mortimer and Perry
Streets now has a two hour
limit, in order to improve
access to businesses. Don’t
forget all-day CBD parking
is also available in Council’s
Short Street car park.
our local playgrounds.
Shade sails have been installed at:
• Gulgong Adventure Playground (additional shade)
• Coomber Park, Kandos
• Pioneer Park, Rylstone
SCRAP TOGETHER TO REDUCE LANDFILL WASTE
Local residents have saved thousands of tonnes
of organic waste from landfill through the food
organics and garden organics (FOGO) bin collection
service since it commenced in 2018.
The food and garden waste you dispose of in your
light green lid bin is transformed into compost
and used to improve soil health in public places,
sporting fields and farms.
Did you know milk, cheese and yoghurt, grass,
leaves and garden prunings, bones, meat and fish,
fruits and vegetables can all be disposed of in your
food and organics bin?
Over the next 12 weeks, as part of the ‘Scrap
Together’ campaign on Facebook and its website,
IMPROVING ACCESSIBILITY IN MUDGEE WITH
CBD PARKING CHANGES
Motorists may have noticed some allday
on-street parking in Mudgee CBD
has recently been reduced to two-hour
parking to improve accessibility for all.
An independent parking study of
Mudgee CBD recommended a change
of parking hours and conditions
outside residential housing, businesses
and school zone areas to improve
access during both weekdays and
weekends. These changes have been
made at the following four locations
within the Mudgee CBD: Market Street
(outside Council’s Customer Service
Centre and Robertson Park), Perry
Street (outside Mudgee Community
Preschool and Robertson Park),
Mortimer Street (outside St Matthew’s
School and the Oriental Hotel) and
Church Street (outside First National
and the Central Motel). Motorists are
asked to please follow these new
parking rules which will be enforced
by Council parking inspectors. All day
CBD parking is still available in the
Short Street car park behind Council’s
FINAL WEEKS OF LOCAL EXHIBITIONS AT ARTS PRECINCT
Two all-local exhibitions at Mudgee Arts Precinct
have been met with huge acclaim and there’s just
weeks left to see the works if you haven’t yet.
The exhibitions of Michael Bourke: A Brief History
of Mudgee and Pamela Welsh: The Princess and the
Piano will close on 26 June.
Michael Bourke’s work investigates the local
landscape through the lens of a true larrikin. The
painterly landscapes, which often pay homage to
great Australian artists, reimagine the history of
Mudgee and the Mid-Western Region, poking fun
at the establishment through his playful eye and
