» PARKS AND RECREATION<br />

<strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> is known for incredible parks, sweeping hillsides and outstanding recreational<br />

activities. The many public parks, trails and recreational activities are managed by the <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong><br />

Community Services District (CSD).<br />

Skate Park<br />

The CSD is a Special District with a five-member elected Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Directors who meet on the second Thursday <strong>of</strong> each month at 6:30 PM<br />

in the Norm Rowett Pavilion at 1021 Harvard Way. These meetings are<br />

open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend to learn more<br />

about the community.<br />

PARKS<br />

The EDHCSD owns and manages over 535 acres <strong>of</strong> developed and<br />

undeveloped parkland. Currently, the CSD manages 30 parks, including:<br />

neighborhood parks, village parks, and sports parks. In support <strong>of</strong> its<br />

2021 Master Plan Goals, the CSD operates and maintains a variety <strong>of</strong><br />

facilities including sports fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, bocce<br />

courts, playgrounds, a dog park, a gymnasium, a community pool,<br />

the EDH skate park, the Teen Center, Oak Knoll Clubhouse, and the<br />

Gilmore Senior Center.<br />

This year, the CSD will Promontory Park<br />

open three new Village<br />

Parks, one each in Blackstone<br />

Village, Heritage Village, and Saratoga Village subdivisions<br />

as well as opening the new Saratoga Trailhead and Open<br />

Space. In <strong>2022</strong>, the CSD started development <strong>of</strong> the Bass<br />

Lake Regional Park, as well as the Saratoga Park that will<br />

provide more active recreational and nature enjoyment<br />

opportunities.<br />

RECREATION<br />

The CSD <strong>of</strong>fers recreational classes, activities, and after-school programs<br />

for both K-5th graders (Adventure Zone) and 6th-8th graders (TEENZ<br />

Center). Classes <strong>of</strong>fered include: youth summer camps, swim lessons,<br />

dance, art, cooking, fitness, education, music, health and wellness,<br />

kayaking, and so much more. They also <strong>of</strong>fer youth and adult sports<br />

such as bocce, tennis, flag football, soccer, volleyball, pickleball, archery<br />

and s<strong>of</strong>tball. Gilmore Senior Center programs include trivia, men’s and<br />

women’s groups, a variety <strong>of</strong> morning workout classes, card groups, seasonal<br />

gardening, bingo and much more for ages 50 and up.<br />

Three times a year, the CSD mails the Community Resource & Recreation<br />

<strong>Guide</strong> out to residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong>. If you live outside <strong>of</strong> EDH, you can find<br />

the latest guide online (edhcsd.org), at the California Welcome Center in Town Center, or at the EDH<br />

Library. Get to know what’s happening in town by flipping through to find events, programs and<br />

services (along with a roadmap to local non-pr<strong>of</strong>it and community partners).<br />

OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES<br />

Compliance and Design Review Division provides Covenants, Conditions,<br />

and Restrictions (CC&R) enforcement and architectural review for exterior<br />

property improvements in District-enforced villages. The Design Review<br />

Committee (DRC), whose volunteer members are appointed by the Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> Directors, has the authority to review all applications for exterior projects,<br />

including oak tree removal, landscaping, pools, solar, ro<strong>of</strong>ing, paint, flatwork,<br />

decks, fencing, remodeling, room additions and new builds. A complete list<br />

<strong>of</strong> projects requiring DRC approval and property improvement is available at<br />

the CSD Parks Building on 1030 St. Andrews Drive or on the District’s website at<br />

edhcsd.org.<br />

CSD Pool<br />

The CSD oversees other important aspects <strong>of</strong> the community through contractual franchises for<br />

cable television, solid waste collection, and recycling. Further, the CSD represents the <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong><br />

Dwelling among the bounties <strong>of</strong> nature doesn’t<br />

mean sacrificing the reassurance <strong>of</strong> urban health<br />

care. Residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> can rely on<br />

a wealth <strong>of</strong> first-rate options for health and<br />

medical services in or near their own community,<br />

including full-service hospitals, medical <strong>of</strong>fices<br />

for every specialty and an array <strong>of</strong> alternative<br />

choices. The area is served by two hospitals rated<br />

by Healthgrades as among the nation’s best:<br />

the independent Marshall Medical Center in<br />

Placerville and Dignity Health’s Mercy Hospital<br />

<strong>of</strong> Folsom. Both <strong>of</strong>fer 24-hour emergency care,<br />

surgical services and outpatient care, and both<br />

have been certified as Baby Friendly for their<br />

breastfeeding advocacy and best practices.<br />

Marshall Medical Center is a Leapfrog Group<br />

2021 Top Hospital—its Emergency Department is<br />

a verified Level 3 Trauma Center, and its Stroke<br />

Program has been designated Gold Plus by the<br />

American Heart/American Stroke Association.<br />

Mercy Hospital <strong>of</strong> Folsom has for several years<br />

earned the Critical Care Excellence Award<br />

from Healthgrades for superior outcomes in<br />

treating pulmonary embolism, respiratory<br />

system failure, sepsis and diabetic emergencies.<br />

It is also home to a Dignity Health Neurological<br />

Institute. Kaiser Permanente Medical Center<br />

in Sacramento, with <strong>of</strong>fices in Folsom, is also<br />

ranked by Healthgrades as a best hospital and has<br />

been honored for its stroke care.<br />

For preventive or urgent illnesses, nearly every<br />

specialty is close by, from general practitioners<br />

to pediatric dentists, optometrists, psychiatrists,<br />

physical therapists, chiropractors, nutritionists,<br />

alternative health consultants, cryotherapy and<br />

many more. MDSTAT urgent care clinic, open<br />

every day in the heart <strong>of</strong> the community, <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

wellness and preventive care along with treatment<br />

for minor injuries and illnesses; no appointment<br />

is required. Kaiser operates an Ambulatory<br />

Surgery Center just minutes away in Folsom.<br />

Excel Medicine practices preventive care, and<br />

Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center covers<br />

all services, including dental, for native and nonnative<br />

Americans.<br />

<strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> residents overwhelmingly seek<br />

out a healthy lifestyle, and many businesses support<br />

that goal, including <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> Sports Club,<br />

FIIT Nation, Mini’s House <strong>of</strong> Pain and Kaia<br />

Fit. Specialty nutrition shops and grocery chains,<br />

such as Nugget Market and Raley’s O-N-E<br />

Market, add to the community’s wellness options,<br />

and a farmer’s market <strong>of</strong>fers homegrown and<br />

homemade foods in Town Center on Sundays<br />

from May to October. Enigma - Personal Health<br />

Coaching specializes in integrated nutrition. And<br />

the area’s outdoor lifestyle provides year-round<br />

opportunities to stay healthy and active in your<br />
