Why do we like sweet? By Asher You wake up to the smell of waffles. Yes! Your mom's waffles are the best. After breakfast you wonder, Why do these waffles taste so good? The answer is….. Sugar! Sugar is the reason they taste really good. On our tongue we have things called taste buds. When the sugar hits the taste buds they send a signal to your brain, which reacts and we feel pleasure, or happiness. Sugar is good for the body because it gives us energy. However, don’t start eating a lot of sugar. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. But thousands of years ago, when we hunted for food, very sweet foods were very hard to find. hese foods were healthy though, so the body rewarded us with the delicious taste after a long hard search to find the food. One example of a sweet food is fruit. So that is the reason sugar tastes good. Now, sweet food is way more popular and it is hard to find food with no added sugar. We have access to a lot more of them than we did thousands of years ago. That is the End.
