HORDLE EXPLORERS NURSERYTeam HEN have been very busy so far this term and we are excited to sharesome of our highlights!TEAM BUTTERFLIESThe children have shown so much enthusiasm during our Slithering Snailsand Wriggling Worms topic and it is ajoy to see them exploring the Wildgarden and their gardens at home to find minibeasts to investigate. Duringour snails topic the children loved keeping pet snails for the week inour tankand showed somuch care when handling them. They were fascinated todiscover that snails like to be stroked and this makes them pop out oftheirshells. Some of the children experienced aspecial visit from Miss Radfordand her African Land Snails. They learnt all about where they live inthe wildand how to take care of them. They were shocked athow big they weretoo! Inspired by snail shells the children looked closely atpatterns andtextures throughout the week and learnt touse the words spiral, rough andhard. They used chalks, paints, small pebbles and gems tocreate spiralsand have been looking out for them inbook illustrations and nature itself.As part of our worm topic the children have been building awormery andusing watering cans and hoses on warmer days toencourage worms tothesurface. They have learnt many facts about worms including that they haveno eyes, they keep gardens tidy by eating all the dead leaves and they aregreat athelping plants togrow. The children are beginning tothink abouthow toorganise minibeasts into groups by looking at similarities anddifferences and using measuring equipment to compare the sizes oftheones they find.The children were excited to discover that the Great Tit chicks have fledgedthe bird cam nest this week and have been looking out for them visiting theWild garden. They are keeping avery close watch onour tadpole tank andhoping that they will soon begin togrow legs and become froglets.PleasementionYourVillage when responding to advertisements25
