SS8 (Land of Hordle Lane: 156 homes)At a packed meeting at which many localresidents spoke of their concerns aboutthis planning application, the ParishCouncil voted to object to the application.The comment submitted can be read infull on our website but the main points canbe summarised as follows:Although Hordle Parish Council welcomesthe level of affordable homes in thisapplication, it has grave concerns about:Density of build and design – thedevelopment has an urban feel which isout of character with the area- particularlygiven its edge of village, rural location. Theproposed high number and density ofhousing on the edge of greenbelt site in arural setting is a material consideration asit will profoundly affect the character ofthe village.Co-ordination of development - The ParishCouncil is concerned that due to the sitebeing split between several developers, aholistic approach to the overalldevelopment of the site will be lacking andfinal result could be piecemeal and resultin a high and inappropriate density ofhousing. Liaison between developers isneeded to get the best outcome for allresidents.ANRG – The Parish Council is veryconcerned that the use of green belt landto provide ANRG (Alternative NaturalRecreational Greenspace) “off “ thedefined SS8 site will create environmentaldamage through recreational use ofprotected SINC and greenbelt woodland atBreakhill Copse.Pedestrian safety implication on HordleLane - the location of the main access roadto the estate is close to the busy junctionof Hordle Lane/ Vicarage Lane and NurseryClose and are no pavements here.Additional Traffic volumes - will affectaccess to the school and church as well askey junctions: crossroads of Hordle Laneand Everton Road, the A337 with EvertonRoad and Hordle Lane.Pathways and connectivity – no link to theCycleway is marked on the plan which isessential to link the development to villageand provide safer pedestrian access for all.Widening of Hordle Lane – leading topotential bottlenecks and altering the ruralgateway to the village.Lack of sufficient allotments – The currentoffer of 15 full plots in total means thatPlease mention Your Village when responding to advertisements Continued on next page5
