Aki Omori Embodied anatomy and movement exploration. Course Mentor
www.akiomori.blogspot.com
Course structure and content
Aki has studied many styles of yoga over the last 20
years. She is a Somatic Movement Therapist and
trained in Structural Yoga Therapy. She teaches from
movement principles rather than with the objective of
simply achieving forms. She is also a well recognised
restorative yoga teacher and an experienced
pranayama practitioner. She is inspired by tantra and
devoted to advaita (non-dual) teaching. Aki teaches at
London’s Triyoga, at Soho, Chelsea and Primrose Hill.
Aki is also a keen contact improviser!
The course will take place intensively from October 2012 - July 2013, with some
weekends starting on Friday evening. A typical day is from 10 to 6pm – with a lunch break!
During this time you will be expected to undertake a case study (to be agreed) typically in
a training institution, or with a company or individual performer. This case study will form
an integral part of the final assessment and our exciting research forum.
Module 1. ASANA PRACTICE AND TECHNIQUES
This module will give students the opportunity to deepen their own inquiry into their
practice and to develop the skills to teach yoga in the vinyasa flow style, modifying
elements of the practice to suit different levels of ability and/or dance background. The
underlying principle of this module is to strengthen and develop personal practice as well
as develop skills in sequencing, demonstration, sensitivity to breath and application of safe
movement/dance practice. Yin yoga, restorative yoga and somatic movement practices are
also explored within this module, as are pranayama and meditation techniques.
