THE WHARF RAT RALLY MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION

Every person and every journey to the Rally is unique, and we all have one thing

in common, our love of motorcycles, every model, age, shape and size. At every

Rally we put on a load of events, rocking music, delicious food, fireworks, custom

builders, and this year The Globe of Death is a popular returning stunt team, but for

me that is not the Rally. It is more about the journey to the Rally and the adventures

on the way. Then stopping in Digby to meet up with friends you have not seen in

ages and making new ones. Knowing there will be a hundred bikes you want to

take home given half the chance. Sharing those adventures and stories, and the

sights you’ve seen. The Rally is a stopping point where we all come together, take

a break and enjoy life.

We also love to take the Rally to people who can’t get into Digby and our Share The

Wind initiative showcases this with many visits to hospitals and homes across the

region during the year. A great reason to ride.

The Wharf Rat Rally thanks the volunteers who offer hundreds of hours of their

time; businesses who go out of their way to welcome thousands of strangers to our

town (keep an eye out for those supporter stickers); planners who work tirelessly

to offer daily entertainment for our visitors; and local non-profits who keep our

streets safe and our volunteers fed.

The Wharf Rat Rally Motorcycle Association recognizes the support of the Province

of Nova Scotia, the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, the Tourism

and Digital Marketing Program, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, to develop

and promote our resources for all Nova Scotians. It is the help of the RCMP, the

Province, the Municipality of Digby, Annapolis County, and the Town of Digby that

strengthens the Wharf Rat Rally to continue into the future.

FRIENDLY REMINDER

A friendly reminder that this is a family event and we

are asking for your cooperation in ensuring that all

visitors and citizens enjoy it to the fullest.

Below are some Nova Scotia and Town of Digby laws that apply to motorcyclists.

This is not a complete list, but a friendly reminder we ask your assistance with.

The Town of Digby does have an Excessive Noise Laws and Bylaws. Burnouts or

wheel stands are not allowed on any public roads.

Montague Row, Water Street and Birch Street are one-way northbound 24 hours

a day from Friday, 2nd September at 8 am until Monday, September 5th at 8 am.

If barricades are in place, those streets are open to motorcycle traffic only.

Nova Scotia’s open liquor container law applies during the bike rally. This is a

family event, public intoxication and disorderly conduct will not be tolerated by

the police.

Motorcycles must not be driven more than two abreast in a single lane. Do not

pass a car in the same lane.

Nova Scotia laws state that approved helmets are required for all riders.

Hello everyone! As the MLA for Digby-Annapolis, I am

delighted to welcome you to the return of the 2022

Wharf Rat Rally.

The Wharf Rat Rally has been canceled for the last two

years due to COVID-19, but it’s finally back in action -

so exciting!

The Wharf Rat Rally is one of the largest and longestrunning

annual motorcycle events in Canada. It has

played a key role in our tourism industry and our local business sectors for

many years. That is why I encourage everyone to take part in this year’s 18th

Annual Wharf Rat Rally. I’m excited to see this event come back to life and I’m

sure you are too.

The Town of Digby has so much to offer while you’re here. From delicious food

delicacies to the beautiful scenic drives around the Bay of Fundy. You won’t

want to miss this year’s festivities.

I also want to thank all the volunteers, organizers, and sponsors who have

worked extremely hard to make this event happen, especially after a two year

pause.

As always, remember to stay safe, be respectful of others, and have fun!

and enjoy the spectacular view. Ensure you drive to

Weymouth and into Clare to enjoy the picturesque

local takeout hot spots or restaurants.

From its humble beginnings of a few hundred bikes to one

of the largest outdoor events in the Province of Nova Scotia

in a matter of few years, Digby continues to graciously

open its doors to you.

Enjoy your time here, take in the events, enjoy the rides, and do not forget to

take in some of the finest seafood prepared at our local restaurants, caught fresh

within eyesight of the town. Walk the coastline, maybe see a whale or two, and

witness a Bay of Fundy Sunset at Point Prim Lighthouse.

Do not forget to thank the hundreds of volunteers who

help make this Rally a success. Many are not bikers,

but they put hours of their time in to make this event

successful for you.

When you leave let us know what we can do to make

your visit even more enjoyable and tell all your friends

and family about Digby. We will welcome them any time

of the year and I am sure they will love scallops, lobster or

fish fresh from the Bay of Fundy.

Wharf Rat Rally Registration

REGISTRATION

This year’s Registration Prize helps you enjoy the ride even more.

A beautiful set of saddle bags from Chubby Boyz to the value of $500.

Be sure to REGISTER and complete your ballot. Anyone can register: if you’re on

a bike, walking from town, off the ferry, it doesn’t matter. Your registration

money helps pay for entertainment, toilets, security and infrastructure. Drop

your ballot off at Headquarters at 1 Birch Street or the Wharf Rat Rally

Registration tent to be entered in the draw.

Winner will be drawn Sunday night at the closing ceremony.

*Your name and phone number are needed in case your ballot is one of the

winners. Your province/state/country and bike make are counted to be able

to substantiate our requests from our funders and sponsors. We record nights

stayed for tracking information for tourism reports. Once those things are

counted (home province, bike make and number of nights in Nova Scotia for out

of province visitors) the ballots are burned. No personal information is kept.

From it’s humble beginnings of just a few motorcycles,

the rally has famously grown to thousands of visitors

that gather in the heart of downtown Digby.

The past couple of years have been challenging for all

of us, so I am happy to see this event happening again

in full swing. This event is a great opportunity to meet

old friends and make new ones.

Take the time to visit the many activities on the waterfront and explore the scenic

shores of the Bay of Fundy while eating the best scallops in the world!

This event would not be possible without the many volunteers that spent

Share The Wind!

SHARE THE WIND

10 years ago riders at the Wharf Rat Rally circled a hospital

facility in Digby, honking horns as they passed. That brief

moment of joy for some local residents unable to join in

the Rally festivities has now grown into the Share the Wind

program, using the assets of the Wharf Rat Rally. Now

including rides in the sidecar for residents, staff, family,

seniors, veterans, patients in hospitals, and others outside

of Digby, down to Yarmouth, and Eastern Valley. The

comradery between friends attending the Rally is strong and

volunteer drivers come back each year, spreading the joy of riding

while Sharing the Wind.

Highland Games

Come meet and greet the Athletes at the Digby

Elementary School, Sunday at 1pm. Watch the amazing

feats of strength and maybe even give it a try!

Just a taste of the Highland Games, with some audience

participation. If people like it, we will do lots more next

year, with even more participation and a Rally twist.

FAMILY ZONE

Family Zone

In the Digby ballpark this year there will

be a focus on Family events.

Bouncy Castles and V4 Bouncers. These

are pay for events but heavily subsidized withpurchase of a

Red Wristband supporting the Rally.

We will also be introducing the Pirates of Halifax, 5 of

“Canada’s Most Authentic Pirates”. The Pirates will be in the

Family Zone on Sunday at 2pm, teaching Pirateology 101 and

doing a reading of “Annie & the Pirates of Halifax”

children’s book ages 3-9. The book is strictly a

fundraiser for the IWK.

Also, there will be Face Painting, First Nation Jingle Dancing, and more! A

great way to spend a Family Sunday and finish off with a bang at the closing

ceremony with Fireworks!
