Joshua W. Walker is a phD doctoral c<strong>and</strong>idate in politics <strong>and</strong> public policy at princeton university focusing on international<br />

relations <strong>and</strong> security studies. Joshua’s dissertation focuses on <strong>the</strong> role of historical memories in post-imperial successor states’<br />

domestic <strong>and</strong> foreign policies with particular focus on <strong>Turkey</strong> <strong>and</strong> Japan. Walker is a fellow of <strong>the</strong> pacific Council on International<br />

policy, a former fellow at <strong>the</strong> Council on foreign relations, a graduate fellow at <strong>the</strong> liechtenstein Institute on self-Determination<br />

<strong>and</strong> bradley foundation. Joshua is <strong>the</strong> co-founder of <strong>the</strong> program on religion, Diplomacy, <strong>and</strong> International relations at princeton<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Young professions in foreign policy in new York. prior to princeton, Joshua completed a Master’s from Yale university in<br />

International relations <strong>and</strong> received two graduate certificates in International security <strong>and</strong> Middle east studies. Joshua completed<br />

a year long fulbright fellowship in ankara, <strong>Turkey</strong> where he researched this country’s foreign <strong>and</strong> security policy, particularly its<br />

european union aspirations <strong>and</strong> north atlantic Treaty organization membership, in relation to questions about its national <strong>and</strong><br />

cultural identity. he received his ba from <strong>the</strong> university of richmond in leadership studies <strong>and</strong> International economics.<br />

Juliette Tolay-Sargnon is completing her ph.D in political science <strong>and</strong> international relations at <strong>the</strong> university of Delaware. her<br />

dissertation looks at Turkish approaches to immigration, <strong>and</strong> studies <strong>the</strong> historical <strong>and</strong> cultural sources of <strong>the</strong>se complex attitudes<br />

<strong>and</strong> policies. a french national, Ms Tolay-sargnon has also studied at sciences po in paris, from which she has received a b.a<br />

<strong>and</strong> M.a, as well as at InalCo, where she received an M.a in Turkish studies. she has studied or conducted research in <strong>Turkey</strong>,<br />

Tajikistan <strong>and</strong> Iran. she has authored a number of papers <strong>and</strong> a book chapter on migration flows in <strong>the</strong> Middle east <strong>and</strong> north africa.<br />

her research at <strong>the</strong> academy will deal with <strong>the</strong> movement of population in <strong>and</strong> out of <strong>Turkey</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> implications of migration for<br />

Turkish foreign policies.<br />
