In 2011 we are celebrating Vogel‘s 120th anniversary. Carl Gustav Vogel<br />

founded his publishing company in Pössneck, Thuringia, in 1891. After abrief<br />

period of being based in Coburg, Vogel Business <strong>Media</strong> has had its headquarters<br />

in the German town of Würzburg ever since 1952. Otherwise, it is also<br />

located in seven other towns in Germany. Although the company‘s business<br />

activities mainly focus on Germany, italso has amultitude of international<br />

the German town of Würzburg ever since 1952. This is also where the large<br />

Vogel Convention Center VCC that belongs to the company is located.<br />

The company‘s „Industrial <strong>Media</strong>“ and „Automotive <strong>Media</strong>“ publishing<br />

divisions are based in Würzburg, as well as its „Events“ and „Services“<br />

business units. This is also where Vogel‘s book publishing segment and<br />

apart of the IWW Institute are to be found.<br />

Moreover,its Vogel Forma publishing unit (a special distributor in the<br />

automobile sector) is also based in Würzburg, along with the 85% subsidiary<br />

Vogel‘s international activities go back along way.Vogel Business <strong>Media</strong><br />

The B2B Marketing Congress which we successfully launched in<br />

2010 will be taking place in Würzburg on 4th and 5th October<br />

2011 and looking at the topic of online marketing in B2B communications.<br />

Its motto will be: „From the target group through to<br />

the target person“. Professor Marc Drüner (from Steinbeis-University<br />

Berlin) will again be chairing the congress.<br />

The event is amust for communications managers working in advertising,<br />

We help to develop the town of Würzburg as an industrial location,plus<br />

the Main/Franconia region, and we help to promote Germany as acountry<br />

of innovations (e.g. through our „Würzburg Automobile Summit“ event).<br />

Added to that, we are also afounding member of Würzburg AG (a regional<br />

marketing initiative that promotes the town of Würzburg).<br />

We strengthen the standing of Würzburg as a media location (e.g.<br />

through our Würzburg media academy) and help to expand what the town<br />

has to offer in terms of higher education. In doing so, we help to promote<br />

the next generation of media experts (e.g. through the masters degree<br />

course in „Specialised journalism with afocus on technology“ sponsored by<br />

our Foundation). Added to this, for years we have been involved in numerous<br />

cooperations with the two local higher education institutions (the university<br />

and the technical college) in the form of talks, seminars, workshops,<br />

projects, career services and work placements.<br />

Furthermore, true to Vogel‘s motto of „Successful together“, we show<br />

strong corporate social responsibility in our work with the three other companies<br />

from Würzburg‘s print &media industry (Krick, MainPost, König &<br />

Bauer) in staging the annual Würzburg charity concert at the Vogel Convention<br />

Center,which raised more than €200,000 within the five years from<br />

2005 to 2010 in donations to regional projects in social fields, charity and<br />

medicine.<br />

„Der Würzburger“ is atrendy,free magazine put together for Würzburg by<br />

Vogel‘s apprentices and trainees. When this year‘s edition comes out in<br />

2011 -containing diverse topics for young and old -this will be for the 26th<br />

time in succession. However,„Der Würzburger“ is not just atraining project<br />

for our apprentices and trainees. It also serves agood cause: the proceeds<br />

from its adverts go to charities in Würzburg and the surrounding area. Every<br />

year,the recipients of these donations are chosen anew by our editorial<br />

team.<br />

These must meet certain criteria, i.e. the money goes to needy people and<br />

institutions that do not receive state aid and that are based in the region.<br />

This successful project has collected some €200,000 for good causes over<br />

the 25 years of its existence.
