Spartans look for back-to-back <strong>Thanksgiving</strong><br />
wins against Austin Prep<br />

The St. Mary’s football team’s home<br />
faithful at Manning Field have been happy<br />
since early September where the Spartans<br />
defeated KIPP 41-0. Nine games and a deep<br />
playoff run later, St. Mary’s has delivered a<br />
near-perfect season.<br />
Starpower has been the name of the game<br />
for St. Mary’s. From quarterback Tyler Guy,<br />
to running backs David Brown and Derick<br />
Coulanges, and to receiver John Nasky,<br />
opposing teams surely have to worry about<br />
more than one opponent on Friday nights.<br />
St. Mary’s has scored 340 points this<br />
season as of 10 games into its schedule, and<br />
the Spartans have put up 40 or more points<br />
four times this season. Major wins for St.<br />
Mary’s this season include ones over Bishop<br />
Feehan in week 3 (12-10) and Lynnfield in<br />
the Division 6 quarterfinals (20-6).<br />
From Brown’s nine touchdowns over<br />
a two-game span, to back-to-back wins<br />
against the same Archbishop Williams team<br />

falling in place for the Spartans.<br />
Now, the end of the story is<br />
here – a <strong>Thanksgiving</strong> week<br />
matchup against Austin Prep.<br />
Last season, it was no<br />
problem for the Spartans,<br />
winning 42-12 at Manning Field.<br />
That<br />
said,<br />
in 2019,<br />
things didn’t go as<br />
planned and Austin Prep<br />
won 32-14.<br />
There’s a little twist on this<br />
season’s action. The teams will play<br />
football at a baseball stadium – that stadium<br />
being the one and only Fenway Park on<br />
Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 1:30 p.m.<br />
