I’m pleased to personally know so many of you 

who live at Elim Village Fleetwood. For those 

I have yet to meet, my name is Marian, and I 

lead the Community Life team at Elim Village. 

“What is Community Life?” you may wonder. 

It’s in the name—it’s our pursuit as an 

organization to ensure the best in wellness 

and care is available to you. We hope your 

years with us are characterized by vibrant 

living that is deeply rooted in community; that’s 

Community Life. We know that if you’re 

supported and connected, you’ll have the best 

quality of life possible. That’s what our staff 

do—we ensure the right programming and 

services are in place to foster that life for you. 

This new 2023 Catalogue of Services is 

organized by category, and details all that 

is possible and available to you through our 

Community Life team. Our staff provide these 

services across all housing types onsite— 

Independent Living, Assisted Living, and 

Full Care, with services paid for on an 

as-needed basis. Some of your favourite 

activities are not detailed here as they are 

free of charge; this Catalogue only lists items 

that have associated fees. Please consult your 

monthly Activity Calendar to view the full 

spectrum of life happening onsite.

Our facility team will always be there to maintain the necessities 

of your suite. You may, however, need extra assistance to hang a 

mirror, paint a wall, or mount a TV. We can help.

your duplex, or an automatic door opener added to your suite, we can take care of these

For meals, the Boonstras favour paninis for 

lunch, which are readily available at The Palms 

Bistro, located in The Oasis. They also enjoy 

the social bustle that occurs over the lunch 

hour, where there’s sure to be a card game 

underway, or someone to share a coffee with. 

For dinners, they regularly order from 

Community Life. “It’s so easy and practical. 

Everyday there are two choices for entrées. 

We call in the morning, and at 5:30pm the bell 

rings, and it’s delivered right to our door.” 

In addition to the entrée, each meal comes 

with a soup, salad, and dessert. 

“THEY THINK ELIM 

IS THE GREATEST. 

AND SO DO WE.” 

The Boonstras have four children together, 

which has now multiplied to include spouses 

and five grandchildren, all within proximity of 

their suite. “They think ELIM is the greatest,” 

says George, “And so do we. They don’t 

have to worry about us, and it’s not on their 

shoulders. We don’t have to depend on 

them at all.” Even for medications, the onsite 

Village Pharmacy provides another layer of 

convenience. “It’s very handy. I go there and 

get all my prescriptions. They even know me 

by name; that’s nice to be called by name.” 

THE BOONSTRAS 

Meet George & Dina Boonstra. The couple the services available to them. “We’ve never 

moved to Elim Village Fleetwood in May of had it so good,” comments George. 

2016, and have had years of enjoyment in their 

spacious, lofted suite in Independent Living. Every Friday at 2pm, an ELIM housekeeper—

incredibly convenient. Having lived an active 

life (such as running a marathon earlier in life), 

it’s been a shift for Dina to adjust to the slower 

pace that comes from mobility challenges. 

Daily activities like dressing or bathing can 

become cumbersome, but regularly scheduled 

visits from the Community Life care team has 

been a welcome solution. “I think it’s kinda 

neat, having so many people coming by,” she 

comments. The support is welcome, and it 

keeps them happy, healthy, and together. And 

they’re not the only ones appreciative of the 

support—their kids are thankful too. 

The couple is living out the exceptional aging in 

place experience unique to their circumstance. 

They are well-supported and also treasure 

many beautiful connections, both familial and 

also many within the resident community. 

They’re able to enjoy the best possible quality 

of life due to the supports provided to them 

and conveniences so readily available.

emergency arise in your suite, ELIM’s care staff will answer the call and respond immediately.
