Saints Foundation
is the charity of
Southampton
Football Club – we’re the
club’s way of connecting
with the local community.
Every year, we help
thousands of people live
healthier, happier lives, to
fulfil their potential and
feel proud of their city.
And 2023 is lining up to be
no different – from the
Saints Women providing a
special day for our schools
programme, to an exciting
new fundraising challenge.
There’s lots to get our
teeth into already…
SAINTS WOMEN
AT WOODLANDS
Last week saw Woodlands
College, one of our Community
Champion partner secondary
schools, welcome members of
the Saints Women first team
for a special coaching session.
Ella Pusey, Sophia Pharoah
and Paige Peake joined the
Woodlands Senior Girls team’s
after-school club, offering
insight, advice and positive
reinforcement to help develop
their players.
The trio spent time coaching
the girls through competitive
games but soon decided
management wasn’t for them,
swapping the sidelines for the
pitch and getting stuck in!
The girls enjoyed the
opportunity to see first-hand
the level our Women’s Team
now operate at, and grilled
Ella, Sophia and Paige on their
pathways into the professional
game. Let’s hope to see the
stars of tomorrow coming out
of Woodlands very soon!
Community Champions runs
in nine of the city’s secondary
schools, with a member of
the Saints Foundation team
working full-time with their
pupils to raise aspirations and
improve attainment. One of
their focuses is encouraging
more female participation in
football and using sport as
a way to shape leadership
potential in girls across
Southampton.
