WE WANT TO FEATURE YOUR CHILDIN THE FROGGY’SMONTESSORI MASTERPIECE CHILDREN’S ART SHOWCASE!(And an Open-Ended Art Project to Get You Started)Do you know a budding young artist? We’re looking for creations full of passion, not perfection.Inspire an open-ended art project with a masterpiece, give them the tools, and walk away. Theirtake, rather than a step-by-step process of replication, is what we are looking for. A new youngmaster artwork will be featured in each issue of Froggy’s Montessori Family Resource Guide, aswell as the Rising Stars Foundation website and social media. It is fitting that a publication for thebenefit of children showcase the work of children!Examples of masterpieces are shown below, but any masterpiece may be chosen for inspiration.Winter Scene Activity Inspired by Claude Monet’s Snow at Argenteuil Snow at Argenteuil byClaude Monet7. Materials: Image of Claude Monet’s Snowat Argenteuil; paper or canvas for painting;watercolors, acrylic, or oil paints as ageappropriate; paint brushes; and a paintpalette; optional tabletop or floor easelIn this activity, we use Claude Monet’s Snowat Argenteuil as inspiration for paintinga winter scene. This is an open-ended artproject. It is not meant as a step-by-stepreproduction exercise. After the child hasheld and examined the painting, tape theprintable in a place the child can easilyglance while painting. Allow the child toexperiment. It is okay if the end result doesnot remotely resemble the inspiration. Resistthe temptation to interrupt the child’s workwith suggestions or questions. Set up apainting area for the child and dress the childin appropriate clothes or smock for the task.Introduce your child to the printable.“Claude Monet, a great impressionists painter,lived in Argenteuil, a suburb of Paris, whichwas hit hard with snow in the winter of1874-1875. Monet was inspired by snow andin multiple works, one of the best know isthis painting, Snow at Argenteuil that Monetpainted in 1875.
