WHAT’S IN A NUMBER? PLENTY IF YOU’RE GETHIN JONES AT THE MOMENT. The Wanderers’ vice-captain has just chalked up a couple of key milestones with the Whites. And off the pitch, Jones has also delivered some significant figures in the size of the cheque he has donated – on behalf of his family – to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Football first and on a personal note, Jones reached his century of appearances for Wanderers as he helped Ian Evatt’s men to a 1-0 victory over Cheltenham Town in the Whites’ last home game. Only close friend and defensive ally Ricardo Almeida Santos has played more games under Evatt than Jones, who was pleasantly surprised to get the hundred up in an eventful first phase of his Wanderers’ career. “I didn’t even realise until after that game when someone mentioned it to me,” said Jones, one of the first signings made by Evatt as the Whites looked to re-build following relegation to League Two in 2020. “When you’re happy somewhere time flies. It’s been two-and-a-half years I’ve been here now and I’m loving every minute of it. “The way the whole club is going on and off the pitch, it’s been incredible and we will keep working hard every single day to get where we want to be. “When me and Rico first came in the manager said he wants to win games and play attractive football. “We went through that very rough patch in League Two at first, but you’ve seen the last two seasons when we’ve come on really strong in the second half of the season and it seems that way at the moment. “We just need to keep the momentum going and push on towards the end of the season.” WE’VE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF CLEAN SHEETS AND OUR HOME FORM HAS BEEN INCREDIBLE SINCE THE NEW YEAR. After helping secure promotion in his first season at the University of Bolton Stadium and a top-10 finish in League One last term, Jones and his team-mates are eyeing something even better this time around. Wanderers go into tonight’s game at home to MK Dons inside the top six and the play-off places, regardless of the outcome of last Saturday’s game at Peterborough United.
