FROM THE MANAGER
IAN EVATT
TO SCORE FIVE GOALS AWAY FROM HOME IN THE CLUB’S 5,000TH LEAGUE GAME HAS AN ELEMENT
OF POETRY ABOUT IT; ADD IN TWO GOALS FROM OUR NUMBER FIVE AND A HAT-TRICK FROM OUR
RED-HOT STRIKER AND YOU HAVE A RESULT THAT WILL BE TALKED ABOUT FOR A VERY LONG TIME.
It is an absolute privilege being
the manager of this wonderful
football club - the players wear
the shirt with pride for each and
everyone of you every time they
go out on the pitch. And to make
special memories for our fans is
the reason why we do it.
To be at the helm as the club
reached a significant landmark that
only a few of the founder members
of the Football League have
achieved so far is an honour that
will stay with me forever.
That said, we have got a job to
do and we don’t have the time to
dwell on the past, no matter how
much we have enjoyed it.
We cannot afford to rest on our
laurels and become complacent - I
won’t allow that.
Peterborough came into the game
on the back of a good run of form,
but we blew them away. It looked
like we were going to score every
time we attacked. With the rotten
luck we’ve had with injuries and
suspensions it would have been
quite easy for us to feel sorry
for ourselves and look for
sympathy. But this will never
happen on my watch.
We put in the performance
we know we are
capable of and
showed that with the
chances we create
we are always a
threat at any stage
of a game. That
attacking side of our
game got the plaudits quite rightly
but I was equally as pleased with
our defence as a clean sheet away
from home is always priceless.
I’m delighted for Rico to have
finally broken the seal and get
not only his first but his second
goal for the club. He’ll be the
first to admit that he should have
more goals to his name but his
imperious performance at the
back, completely nullifying Jonson
Clarke-Harris, was arguably more
important than his two goals.
And what can I say about Dion?
There have been so many
superlatives to describe his
hat-trick at London Road, I don’t
think I could add to them. He’s a
striker that defenders absolutely
hate playing against. He might
not dominate from a physical
perspective but his pace,
perseverance, energy and
precision causes them
nightmares. He’s in
a rich vein of form
and I am thrilled
for him. Hopefully
he’ll get a few
more match balls
to take home with
him this season!
As high as football can take you it
can also bring you crashing back
down to earth - and as good as
we have been recently we will not,
as I said earlier, get carried away.
Tonight’s opponents, MK Dons,
who I’d like to welcome to the
University of Bolton Stadium, will
make it a difficult game for us and
we’ll have to show that resilience
and cutting edge which was on
display at the weekend if we are to
carry on this momentum.
It goes without saying, that your
support continues to shine on us
so brilliantly. Hearing that roar at
full-time and seeing the beaming
smiles on your faces makes all the
hard work we put in worthwhile.
Finally, I must end these notes in
a rather sombre tone. We have all
been incredibly saddened to see
the agonising loss of life that the
earthquakes in Turkey and Syria
have caused. While the buildings
and infrastructure will be rebuilt
over time, the pain will remain
infinite for the many who have
lost loved ones. The thoughts of
everybody at Bolton Wanderers
Football Club are with the people
of Turkey and Syria.
The Club has launched the For
The Love Of Humanity appeal to
raise as much funds as possible
which will assist those who need it
most and if you are in a position to
donate please do so to help make
a difference.
THE BOARDROOM
NEIL HART
GOOD EVENING AND WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF BOLTON STADIUM.
We’re back home following
a special day for the club at
Peterborough last Saturday.
To reach 5000 league games is a
major milestone for the club and I’d
like to applaud Ian and his staff and
players for a performance – and
result – that was befitting of the
occasion.
It really couldn’t have been a better
day and everyone there must have
felt fortunate to be part of it.
While we are in the middle of
another important run of games and
making fantastic progress on the
pitch, there are also some key offthe-field
issues I’d like to mention.
Firstly, we are delighted to have
launched our season ticket offer
for the 2023/24 season and with
the response which has already
seen over 4,000 tickets sold – a
significant increase on this time last
year.
We have frozen prices during the
early bird period to make watching
Wanderers as affordable as possible
and urge supporters to renew,
where they can, before the deadline
of Monday, 10 April to benefit from
the current prices.
In the spirit of aiming to make our
stadium as inclusive as possible, we
are also attaching an important new
fundraising campaign to 2023/24
season ticket sales.
In consultation with the Bolton
Wanderers Supporters’ Trust, the
club is working to enhance disabled
facilities across the stadium. This
will include the installation of a
‘Changing Places’ toilet and the
upgrade of existing disabled toilets.
To contribute to these improvements,
fans are being offered the chance to
make a donation on check-out when
purchasing their season tickets of set
amounts of £10, £25, £50 or £100.
As a minimum, Bolton Wanderers
are committed to matching the
contributions made by supporters as
part of this initiative.
I would also like to take this
opportunity to clarify the situation
regarding match-day buses.
The current provision of buses
to home matches is costing the
club £40,000, as well as costing
supporters £7 per journey.
Currently only around 350
supporters are using the service,
although we are fully aware of the
importance of that service to those
who do so.
That’s why, via the Supporters’
Trust, we are engaging in a period
of consultation and looking into
the detail of the match-day bus
operation with a view to confirming a
plan for the 2023/24 season before
the end of March – giving supporters
the chance to renew season tickets
ahead of the early bird deadline.
The views of supporters remain
important to us and to that end we
are also about to launch a major
supporter survey which will allow
fans to provide feedback on a
variety of subjects around their club
– including match-day experience,
ticketing, hospitality, food and drink
offerings and much more.
We also have a number of key
events coming up for both
supporters and business partners.
Our next Business Club event will be
staged on Friday, 10 March, followed
on the same night by our first BWFC
Sleep Out.
The event will aim to raise funds
to support both the club’s official
charity – Bolton Wanderers in the
Community – and Urban Outreach
as they work to support some of
the most vulnerable people living in
Bolton.
Already over 100 people have
signed up and anyone else keen
to take part can do so via this email
address fausten@bwitc.org.uk
Finally, our End of Season Awards
night is also in the diary for the
evening of Saturday, 23 April.
That promises to be a superb
occasion in the company of Ian
and the players and one not to be
missed. For ticket details, please
contact sales@Bwfc.co.uk
There is so much to look forward
on and off the pitch as we move
towards the end of the season and
while Ian and his players continue to
entertain and reward us, rest assured
we are doing everything possible
behind the scenes to build for a
successful and sustainable future.
Thanks for your support.
Wanderers marked their 5,000th league fixture with a five-star
performance and victory at play-off chasing Peterborough United
on Saturday afternoon.
Ricardo Almeida Santos scored his first goal for the club after just
a dozen minutes, when he diverted Gethin Jones’ effort beyond
Will Norris and Dion Charles doubled the lead just before the break
from the penalty spot after Shola Shoretire was fouled by Nathan
Thompson.
Shortly after the restart, Charles added his second of the afternoon
from close range after connecting with Gethin Jones’ low cross
before completing his hat-trick from the spot four minutes letter after
Shoretire was once again brought down inside the box.
Almeida Santos added Wanderers’ fifth and his second goal of the
afternoon, smashing a shot into the roof of the net from close range
after Aaron Morley’s cross had fallen into his path via a flick from
Cameron Jerome. An unforgettable afternoon for Ian Evatt’s men at
the Weston Homes Stadium and up to fourth in Sky Bet League One.
THE SPINE OF THE TEAM
GOALKEEPER | JAMIE CUMMING
AGE: 23 | ON LOAN FROM CHELSEA
Joining MK Dons on loan in January 2022 until the end of the 2021/22
season, Cumming arrived at Stadium MK after an impressive first half of
the season on loan at Gillingham from parent club Chelsea.
The former England U19 international made 23 appearances for the Dons
last term and re-joined the club on loan last summer. He has once again
been a regular and this term has made 37 appearances. Yet to make his
first team bow for Chelsea, Cumming featured for the club’s U21s side in
the Football League Trophy before his first loan spell away from Stamford
Bridge at Stevenage during the 2020/21 season.
CENTRE BACK | JACK TUCKER
AGE: 23 | PREVIOUS CLUB: GILLINGHAM
Born in Kent, Tucker came through the youth ranks at Gillingham and made
his professional debut for the club in a 1-0 home defeat to Portsmouth in
October 2017. The central defender had to wait until the 2019/20 season to
become a first team regular for the Gills, in a campaign where he made 34
appearances (1 goal).
From there, he became a key figure in Gillingham’s defensive ranks and
went onto make a total of 137 appearances (4 goals) for the club before a
June 2022 move to Milton Keynes Dons following the Gills’ relegation to
League Two. In his debut campaign for the Dons, to date he has made 32
appearances (1 goal) for the club at the time of writing.
CENTRE MIDFIELDER | JOSH McEACHRAN
AGE: 29 | PREVIOUS CLUB: BIRMINGHAM CITY
Once a highly regarded young prospect at Chelsea and a regular in the England U21s setup,
McEachran is now approaching his 30th birthday and is one of the more experienced figures
within the ranks at Milton Keynes Dons.
Making his professional debut for Chelsea in a 4-1 Champions League win at MSK Zilina in
September 2010, he went onto make 22 appearances for the club before a July 2015 move to
Brentford for a £750,000 fee following loan spells with Swansea City, Middlesbrough, Watford,
Wigan Athletic, and Vitesse Arnhem.
During four years at Griffin Park, he made 102 appearances (1 goal) before a September 2019
move to Birmingham City. In March 2021 he joined Milton Keynes Dons on a free transfer and at
the time of writing he has made 84 appearances for the club.
STRIKER | MO EISA
AGE: 28 | PREVIOUS CLUB: PETERBOROUGH UNITED
The Dons’ joint-leading scorer in all competitions with 7 goals, Eisa has scored 3 goals in
his last 4 appearances at the time of writing, including a brace in a 2-1 win at Forest Green
Rovers three weeks ago.
Climbing up through the non-league pyramid, Eisa’s goals for Greenwich Borough earned
him a move to Cheltenham Town in July 2017 and during a single season at Whaddon
Road (2017/18) he scored 25 goals before a £1.5 Million move to Bristol City in July 2018.
Making just 6 appearances during the 2018/19 season, he signed for Peterborough United
in the summer of 2019 and spent two seasons with the club before a move to Milton
Keynes Dons in July 2021 for a club-record fee. Last term for the Dons, he scored 12 goals
THE BOSS…
Successfully guiding a host of talented young players through Leeds
United’s U23s setup, Jackson was presented with his first opportunity
in senior management after taking over at Milton Keynes Dons in
December following Liam Manning’s departure.
As a player, Jackson came through the youth ranks at Leeds United
– his hometown club, to make his professional debut for the club in
March 1996. Following loans at Huddersfield Town and Barnsley, he left
Elland Road in 2000 and went onto have spells with Scunthorpe United,
Kidderminster Harriers, Rochdale, and Farsley Celtic before hanging his
boots up.
Returning to Leeds to coach the U15s and 16s in 2015, he worked his
way up through the age groups to take charge of the U23s in September
2020 following Carlos Corberan’s departure to Huddersfield Town.
5000th LEAGUE GAME
MILESTONE.
Bolton managers in charge of
most League games for the club
are:
1. Charles Foweraker (pictured) 840
(1918-1944).
2. Bill Ridding 729 (1951-1968).
3. John Somerville 412 (1898-1910).
4. Sam Allardyce 307 (1999-2007).
5. Phil Neal 301 (1985-1992).
Ian Evatt is currently 14th on the list
with 123 games.
Previous milestones have seen
varying results to celebrate the
occasion. Wanderers 100th League
game saw a 4-4 draw with Stoke
at Pikes Lane in October 1892 with
Jimmy Dickenson helping himself
to a hat trick.
The 250th game came in October
1897, 5000 spectators witnessing a
2-0 win against Nottingham Forest
at Burnden Park. The 500th saw a
4-0 second division home defeat
of Glossop in January 1905 on the
way to runners up spot.
January 1922 brought about the
1000th game, a 2-0 home reverse
to Chelsea, this coming just three
days after the Wanderers had
won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. A
first league visit to Carrow Road to
face Norwich City in October 1964
(programme
pictured) saw
the 2500th
game and a 3-2
defeat. Bolton’s
goals coming
from Francis
Lee and a Barry
#2 GETHIN
JONES
20 | The Wanderer 01204 328 888
WHAT’S IN A NUMBER? PLENTY IF YOU’RE GETHIN
JONES AT THE MOMENT.
The Wanderers’ vice-captain has
just chalked up a couple of key
milestones with the Whites.
And off the pitch, Jones has also
delivered some significant figures
in the size of the cheque he has
donated – on behalf of his family
– to the Darby Rimmer MND
Foundation.
Football first and on a personal
note, Jones reached his century
of appearances for Wanderers as
he helped Ian Evatt’s men to a 1-0
victory over Cheltenham Town in
the Whites’ last home game.
Only close friend and defensive
ally Ricardo Almeida Santos has
played more games under Evatt
than Jones, who was pleasantly
surprised to get the hundred up
in an eventful first phase of his
Wanderers’ career.
“I didn’t even realise until after that
game when someone mentioned
it to me,” said Jones, one of the
first signings made by Evatt as the
Whites looked to re-build following
relegation to League Two in 2020.
“When you’re happy somewhere
time flies. It’s been two-and-a-half
years I’ve been here now and I’m
loving every minute of it.
“The way the whole club is going
on and off the pitch, it’s been
incredible and we will keep
working hard every single day to
get where we want to be.
“When me and Rico first came in
the manager said he wants to win
games and play attractive football.
“We went through that very rough
patch in League Two at first, but
you’ve seen the last two seasons
when we’ve come on really strong
in the second half of the season
and it seems that way at the
moment.
“We just need to keep the
momentum going and push on
towards the end of the season.”
WE’VE BEEN
GETTING
A LOT OF
CLEAN
SHEETS
AND OUR
HOME FORM
HAS BEEN
INCREDIBLE
SINCE THE
NEW YEAR.
After helping secure promotion in
his first season at the University of
Bolton Stadium and a top-10 finish
in League One last term, Jones
and his team-mates are eyeing
something even better this time
around.
Wanderers go into tonight’s game
at home to MK Dons inside the
top six and the play-off places,
regardless of the outcome of last
Saturday’s game at Peterborough
United.
The fixture at London Road marked
the Whites’ 5000th league game
as they became just the fifth club
to reach another landmark that
resonates with Jones.
“It’s a massive milestone for the
club and I’m proud to be a part of
that as well,” added the 27-year-old
Welshman.
www.bwfc.co.uk
The Wanderer | 21
“It’s something we say as players.
To come in and play for a massive
club like Bolton is something we
enjoy every single day.”
Another record recently achieved is
the run of clean sheets Wanderers
have racked up at the University of
Bolton Stadium.
Surpassing a club-best which had
stood since the early 1930s, the
Whites haven’t conceded a goal
at the University of Bolton Stadium
since the start of December.
Goalkeeper James Trafford and his
defensive allies have clocked up
eight successive home shut-outs,
including six in the league, to
underpin a winning home run which
could extend to five games against
the Dons this evening.
“It’s something we’ve been really
working hard on,” said Jones, who
has played his part in a variety
of defensive roles to help the
Whites seamlessly overcome
injury absences and changes in
personnel.
“We’ve been getting a lot of clean
sheets and our home form has
been incredible since the new year.
“We want to make it hard for teams
to come to play. Cheltenham made
it difficult for us here last time but
we found a way to win.
“That’s one thing the manager
has always said: if teams make it
difficult just find a way to win. The
most important thing in the end is
that three points.”
Which brings us to the final number.
Last week Jones presented a
cheque worth £35,496 to the Darby
Rimmer MND Foundation as a 25
per cent share of the money raised
by the Jones family as a result of
their own battle with one of the
most cruel of conditions.
Karen Jones – mum to Gethin,
Dylan and Ela and husband of
Gareth – sadly lost her fight almost
a year ago after an initial diagnosis
in July, 2021.
Wanderers, family and friends
rallied around to support an appeal
designed to raise funds for the
care and treatment of Karen and
to contribute to the wider struggle
against MND through the Darby
Rimmer Foundation, co-founded by
former Whites’ defender Stephen
Darby.
That fight will go on, with Jones
as committed on that subject as
he is to Wanderers’ cause as he
continues to honour the memory of
his mum as a model professional
on and off the pitch.
“As a family, we are so grateful for
everyone’s generosity and support.
One thing we said, even after my
mum passed away, was that we
want to keep supporting Darby
Rimmer and the MND Association,”
he said.
“There are a lot of things we want
to keep on doing because it’s a
horrible illness and one we need
to find a cure for and do more
research.
“It’s heart-breaking to see someone
so close to you go away like that.
As a family we still want to help
with all the research we can to find
a cure.
“It’s been difficult for us, but the
club has been so supportive and
the help of Sharon (chairman
Sharon Brittan), the manager, all
the players and the fan-base has
been incredible to keep me
going.
“It’s one thing my mum always
wanted me to do. She was adamant
she wanted me to go and play and
make her proud and that’s what I
try to do every single day.”
Without question, it’s fair to say he
has.
Social Media Man of the Match: Kyle Dempsey
Patience paid of for Wanderers who managed to find
a way past a resilient Cheltenham Town side at the
University of Bolton Stadium with Kyle Dempsey’s
fine strike late in the game proving to be the decisive
moment.
Dempsey looked to ask questions of the Cheltenham
back line in a very stop-start first half before Dion
Charles spurned a big opportunity by blazing a shot
over the bar from the edge of the box after he’d latched
onto Gethin Jones’ header to bear down on goal.
Charles was denied in the second half by Luke
Southwood after Shola Shoretire had picked him out
with a neat flick, and Aaron Morley fired a free-kick
over the bar before Dempsey’s superb curling strike
headed into the bottom corner after the midfielder had
engineered some space for a shot 20 yards from goal.
SUPPORT BWITC IN THE GREAT
MANCHESTER RUN 2023
On Sunday the 21st of May
staff and supporters of Bolton
Wanderers in the Community will
again be taking part in the AJ Bell
Great Manchester Run, marking
the event’s 20th anniversary.
The Great Manchester Run is
the city’s original and best-loved
running event with a high-energy
soundtrack, live music and
entertainment zones at every turn.
The run welcomes thousands
of charity runners taking on the
challenge of a 10k or half marathon
each year to raise millions for
charity. The primary aim for us is
to raise money for the vital work
that Bolton Wanderers in the
Community carries out across the
Town, supporting some of the
most vulnerable members of the
community.
Last year we had 15 runners
complete the event flying the flag
for BWitC. This year we’re thrilled
to say that spaces are now very
limited, meaning we’ve had a
fantastic response so far!
We have asked that all runners
pledge £150 to the event. This
would entitle the participant to
free entry, fundraising support
from Bolton Wanderers in the
Community and an invitation to
our exclusive event with Bolton
Wanderers First Team Staff to assist
with all aspects of 10k training!
Runners will also receive a free
t-shirt courtesy of B2B Workwear &
Janitorial. B2B are kindly supplying
all the t-shirts for the event, and
we’re thrilled to have them on
board as official shirt sponsors!
FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY
On this Valentine’s Day, a day
that we think of our loved one’s
and often give them gifts in
appreciation of them we are
holding our “for the love of
humanity” appeal.
The thoughts and prayers of
everyone at Bolton Wanderers
are with all those affected by the
devastating earthquakes in Turkey
(now known as Türkiye) and Syria.
The shocking scale of the tragedy
and the catastrophic loss of life has
left us all deeply saddened.
All funds raised during this appeal
will be sent to the Disasters
Emergency Committee (DEC), a
committee that brings together 15
leading UK aid charities at times of
crisis overseas.
The UK Government has pledged
to match pound-for-pound up to
£5 million the amount raised by the
public for the DEC’s Turkey-Syria
Earthquake Appeal.
DEC charities and their local
Their immediate priorities are
search and rescue, medical
those who have lost their homes,
heaters for spaces, winter kits with
Sharon our Chairman has said,
“The earthquakes in Türkiye and
Syria have brought a devastating
loss of life on a huge scale which
has brought a deep sense of
sadness around the world.
“Yet, in the face of such a tragedy,
we are reminded of the resilience
and strength of the human spirit
where people come together to
offer help, support, comfort and
hope to those who have lost so
much.
“Here at Bolton Wanderers, we
have launched our For The Love
Of Humanity appeal to raise as
much funds as possible which will
help those who need it most.
“On a night when we traditionally
tell our loved ones how much they
mean to us, let us also show our
compassion for those who are
suffering greatly as this tragedy
continues to unfold.
“May the souls of those lost rest
in perpetual peace and may their
memory serve as a reminder
of the power of unity and the
unbreakable bonds that bind us
all.”
If you are in a position to make a
donation and you would like to
help the humanitarian aid efforts,
you can also support the appeal
here.
Bolton Wanderers 2
Blackpool 2
N Power Football League Championship
The Wanderers failed to get into
the play-offs on the final day of
the season on goal difference
thanks to a failure to defeat
Blackpool and Leicester’s last
minute winner at Nottingham
Forest.
Saturday February 23rd 2013
Bolton Wanderers 4
Hull City 1
N Power Football League Championship
Eight minutes into the match the
Wanderers, chasing a late chase
for a play-off place, were three
goals to the good as third placed
Hull City were put to the sword.
Darren Pratley set the ball rolling
after just 75 seconds with a
spectacular full length diving
header (pictured) after some
inspiring midfield football from
Mark Davies and Chung-Yong
Lee. It was Davies who netted the
second five minutes in, his shot
from the edge of the penalty area
being too hot for ‘keeper David
Stockdale, the ball ending up in the
bottom corner of the net.
The third goal came courtsesy of
two loan players. Jay Spearing,
from Liverpool, swung in a corner
and Craig Dawson, from West
Brom, got his header for his first
goal in almost two years.
Both sides hit the woodwork
before half time, Robbie Brady
firing a free kick off the bar for Hull,
Marvin Sordell seeing a side footed
effort glance off the outside of the
post for the Wanderers. Hull got
back into it with a deflected free
kick from Brady but it was Dawson
who wrapped things up with his
second goal.
Again it was from a Spearing
corner, Dawson shot into the post,
David Ngog saw his shot cleared
off the line before the centre half
found the net by turning in Marcos
Alonso’s effort that killed off Hull to
register back to back home wins
for the first time in almost a year.
Team: Bogdan, Ricketts, Knight,
Dawson, Alonso, Spearing,
Attendance: 17,665
They had given themselves a
mountain to climb by falling behind
to goals from Matt Phillips and
Ludovic Sylvestre. Nine minutes
from half time Dougie Freedman
threw on striker Marvin Sordell for
debutant Rob Hall. All of a sudden
Bolton became a threat.
After the fourth official had
signalled three added minutes,
Chris Eagles (pictured celebrating)
smashed home a shot under the
crossbar from the edge of the
ox and, incredibly, seconds later
the Wanderers were level, Craig
Davies’ snap shot deflecting off
Stephen Crainey on its way into
the net.
Despite creating chances in the
second half no one was clinical
enough to get a winner and when
the result came through from the
East Midlands there were plenty
tears shed both on and off the
pitch. Supporters remained behind
for a lap of thanks to departing
captain Kevin Davies and to
acknowledge a side that, since
the turn of the year, had made an
unlikely yet exciting push for the
top six.
Team: Bogdan, Ricketts, Knight,
Tuesday 17th September 2014
Bolton Wanderers 3
Rotherham United 2
Sky Bet Championship
The Wanderers climbed out of the
bottom three thanks to a 24 minute
hat-trick from on loan striker Joe
Mason who became the first Bolton
player to take home the match ball
since Fredi Bobic in April 2002.
Bolton toiled during the first half,
Mark Davies, playing his 150th
game for the club and Neil Danns,
producing the only efforts to
come close whilst at the other
end Anthony Wordsworth gave
Rotherham the lead direct from a
free-kick.
On the hour the Wanderers went
wide with wingers Chung-Yong Lee
and Liam Feeney introduced and
almost immediately equalised. On
loan Cardiff striker Mason arrowed
a superb shot in the bottom corner
for Bolton’s first goal in almost four
hours of football.
With ten minutes remaining Mason
headed home Jay Spearing’s corner
(pictured) but Bolton couldn’t hold
on and Alex Revell levelled from
close range shortly after. Both
teams went for a winner and it fell
to Mason to secure the points in
the 84th minute, netting from close
range after Matt Mills had headed a
free-kick into his path.
Team: Lonergan, Ream, Mills,
BWFCST
TRUST MEMBERS QUESTIONS ANSWERED BY IAN AND NEIL
Our annual AGM, held on
Thursday Feb 2nd was a great
success, with fans attending
having lots of opportunity to ask
questions of both Ian Evatt and
Neil Hart during the evening.
As BWFC fans we aren’t known for
holding back and there were lots
of topics covered, and lots of open
dialogue in return. Topics were
wide and varied, including:
• Can we have a loyalty scheme
for away match tickets?
• Why do tickets have to go on
sale at 10am?
• How much will season tickets
costs when they go on sale?
• Can the cost of parking be
lowered?
• Where does the money from car
parking costs go?
• How much is in it for Parking
Eye?
• Where does Ian Evatt get his
inspiration from?
• Is James Trafford on his way
back to City next season?
• Will there be match buses next
season?
• Will there be an opportunity for
fans to buy shares in the Club?
• Can the costs of food & drink
be looked at? £2.50 for a bottle
of water is too much?
We talked in the Cheltenham
programme about how willing Ian
and Neil were to join us on the
night and speak openly about
challenges and opportunities
both on and off the pitch. Having
opportunities to engage with the
Club directly and being able to
create those opportunities for our
members to have their say are
our biggest priority. If you’re not
already a member, join us, and
take advantage of the discounted
offer of a £5 first year membership
subscription when buying your
season ticket in the early bird
window. You can join by visiting
https://www.bwfcst.co.uk/join-thetrust/annual-membership
and using
the code BWFCST5.
So, what has happened since?
A link to the live streaming
of the AGM was shared with
members over last weekend, then
subsequently been shared across
our social media channels for fans
to see. We know some fans have
concerns, with messages into
the Trust directly, & comments on
social media. On Thursday, we
held our monthly meeting with Neil,
and we’ll bring members an update
on that meeting, with updates
on discussions, loyalty scheme
working parties etc.
And coming soon is a members
only area on our website and lots
of opportunities to have your say -
what’s not to like?!
make you aware of new measures
being taken across all of football
to ensure everyone can have a safe
and enjoyable experience. We are
supporting strong action from the
FA, Premier League and EFL to tackle
anti-social and criminal behaviours
that put all of us at risk.
This reflects the seriousness of
the risks to fans and staff – pyros
can burn at 2000 degrees Celsius
and cause lifechanging injuries,
while entering the pitch endangers
players, managers and match
officials.
We know those who commit these
illegal acts do not represent the
majority of supporters.
ON THE COVER
On tonight’s cover is
Wanderers’ vice-captain Gethin
Jones wearing the 2015/16
home shirt manufactured by
Macron. The defender recently
reached 100 appearances
for the football club. On the
majority of covers this season,
a current player will be featured
wearing a different home shirt
from 1997 onwards in a different
location in or around the
University of Bolton Stadium to
mark the 25-year anniversary of
football at our current home.
