The Wanderers failed to get into
the play-offs on the final day of
the season on goal difference
thanks to a failure to defeat
Blackpool and Leicester’s last
minute winner at Nottingham
Forest.

Eight minutes into the match the
Wanderers, chasing a late chase
for a play-off place, were three
goals to the good as third placed
Hull City were put to the sword.
Darren Pratley set the ball rolling
after just 75 seconds with a
spectacular full length diving
header (pictured) after some
inspiring midfield football from
Mark Davies and Chung-Yong
Lee. It was Davies who netted the
second five minutes in, his shot
from the edge of the penalty area
being too hot for ‘keeper David
Stockdale, the ball ending up in the
bottom corner of the net.
The third goal came courtsesy of
two loan players. Jay Spearing,
from Liverpool, swung in a corner
and Craig Dawson, from West
Brom, got his header for his first
goal in almost two years.
Both sides hit the woodwork
before half time, Robbie Brady
firing a free kick off the bar for Hull,
Marvin Sordell seeing a side footed
effort glance off the outside of the
post for the Wanderers. Hull got
back into it with a deflected free
kick from Brady but it was Dawson
who wrapped things up with his
second goal.
Again it was from a Spearing
corner, Dawson shot into the post,
David Ngog saw his shot cleared
off the line before the centre half
found the net by turning in Marcos
Alonso’s effort that killed off Hull to
register back to back home wins
for the first time in almost a year.

They had given themselves a
mountain to climb by falling behind
to goals from Matt Phillips and
Ludovic Sylvestre. Nine minutes
from half time Dougie Freedman
threw on striker Marvin Sordell for
debutant Rob Hall. All of a sudden
Bolton became a threat.
After the fourth official had
signalled three added minutes,

smashed home a shot under the
