The Fortenberrys Tell us about your family. Brian and Susan enjoy running and working out. We have completed a few triathlons and quite a few half marathons together. We love to travel together and spend time together experiencing and exploring new places. Grayson 15, Ellen Claire 13, Emily 11, and Caleb 8 all enjoy sports, playing outside together, and watching collegiate and professional sports. How did you meet and how long have you been married? We met at Mississippi College. We began as friends running together and began dating from there. We will have been married 20 years in June 2023. Do you allow time to be with your spouse for a date night? We try to grab dinner once every couple weeks or so. It is more feasible now that our kids are a little older, and we can be more spontaneous with our dates. However, their busy schedules limit our availability to go sometimes, but it’s a season we will one day miss! What brings you the greatest joy as a parent? It brings us great joy when we see our children walking with the Lord and individually pursuing a relationship with Christ. As in any family, they fuss and fight, but it is rewarding when we see glimpses of kindness, selflessness, and love towards each other and their peers. Hometown CLINTON • 37
