top of my to-do list. I’ll leave to stone
unturned to get there, because we know
how tough it is to win.
“The talent is in this group to win the
Champions Cup. We just need to focus
on the Ulster game first.
“You don’t want a runners-up medal
on the CV. That gap is still there, and
it’s a huge motivation. It’ll continue to
motivate me, until we get there.”
Keenan returned to Leinster with his
reputation sky-high, having been
nominated for the Six Nations Player
of the Tournament, along with Mack
Hansen and his Leinster teammate
Caelan Doris. Despite the nomination,
he feels it could have gone to many of
his teammates.
“The team performed so well, it
could have been any of us. I thought
Andrew Porter and James Ryan were
outstanding too. I would have bitten
your hand off for the Grand Slam, over
any individual honors though.”
While memories of the Grand Slam
remain vivid, they are now in the past,
with all eyes on the immediate future
in both club competitions. Six Nations
celebrations ended, and the focus
quickly returned to the task at hand, and
with trophy goals in mind.
“We came back on Wednesday last
week, and were keen to get back up to
speed. The Ireland players all enjoyed
the celebrations, but when we came
back in, all focus turned to Leinster. It’s a
season-defining game, so we won’t be
short of motivation. If we can feed off
the energy of the Grand Slam, hopefully
we can keep that going into Leinster.”
Keenan turns 27 in June, with a very
healthy rugby CV already being
developed. He’ll hope to have more
honors added to it, before he blows out
the birthday candles.
