Heineken Champions Cup 2022-
23 Round of 16 clash between
Leinster Rugby and Ulster Rugby
at the home of Irish Rugby, the
Aviva Stadium. We’ve witnessed
some fantastic rugby over the
course of this year’s tournament
and I’m sure that the game today
will live up to all our hopes and
expectations. Indeed, if the game
today matches the excitement
and quality of their epic Quarter
Final clash here in 2019 when
Leinster edged out a somewhat
unfortunate Ulster by just three
points, we are in for another truly
memorable game.
Having worked with HEINEKEN for
over 11 years, I have huge affection for
Europe’s leading club Rugby competition;
the Heineken Champions Cup. I recall
so vividly many memorable games,
home and away from over the years, all
of them enjoyed with friends, family and
colleagues. Today will be the first time
I attend a game as Managing Director
of HEINEKEN Ireland. I am immensely
proud to do so. The fact that two home
provinces are playing in a packed and
colourful Aviva Stadium makes the
occasion all the more exciting! It’s a
shame that both sides cannot progress to
the Quarter Final stage, but I’ve no doubt
that the winner today will have earned
their right to make the final eight. I wish
both sides the very best of luck.
I would also like to extend my best
wishes to all the other fourteen sides
as they compete this weekend. A
special mention for Munster Rugby who
face tough opposition in Cell C Sharks
down in Durban. With the Heineken
Champions Cup 2022-23 final taking
place in the Aviva stadium on the 20th
May, they, like both Leinster and Ulster,
will no doubt be hugely motivated to
continue their journey on the road to the
Dublin Final 2023.
