Preparation for the Chamber Golf Outing
has begun! The Chamber Golf Outing, routinely
among the earliest outing of the season, and will
celebrate the 26th year as a much anticipated
afternoon of fun, networking, and relaxation!
Mark your calenders and round up your
foursome to join in this signature chamber event.
The outing is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m.
shotgun start on Friday June 9th at The Rose
Lake Golf Club in Fairmont.
The annual outing offers opportunities for
local businesses to network while making a local
impact by supporting one of the many important
causes the Chamber takes on.
This event serves as a fund-raiser to support
the three local youth programs coordinated
by the Chambers Business Education Committee.
Each year the Chamber holds a welcome banquet
for new teachers to the district.
We purchase the volunteer teacher kits
and coordinated volunteers for the Junior
Achievment program in public and private
schools ( grades K-6th).
We also organize the Area Career Exploration
for sophomores held each year in
April at the Fairmont Highschool. With attendance
of 11 area schools and an average of 100
businesses and colleges.
•Each hole has a different game challenge
with Chamber Bucks given as the prize.
•Door prizes and Golfer gift bags are
also part of the annual event.
•Hole sponsorships are currently available
to all Chamber members.
•If you have sport event tickets you won’t
be able to use- or something unique. Consider
donating them to the 26th annual golf outing.

Martin County Leadership Program
Leadership Martin County will be accepting applications
for the 2023-2024 sessions soon. This program was designed to
enable candidates to learn about Martin County resources, values,
strengths, weaknesses and challenges. The program is intended to
strengthen candidate knowledge and understanding of our community,
its assets, complexities and potential. It aims to develop leadership
skills through classroom instruction, interactive exercises and
small group discussion.
A series of topical seminars are held over a nine-month
period and conducted by local and regional professionals. Area
leaders volunteer their time to raise awareness of the assets and
opportunities in our community by providing an in-depth, behindthe-scenes
look at eight key elements of our community. These elements
consist of Education, Economic Development, Government,
Healthcare, Public Safety, Quality of Life, Agriculture and Culture &
Diversity. The program provides the opportunity for candidates to
exchange ideas with each other and with current community leaders,
to build networks and to begin the process of identifying and
solving important community issues.
Peggy Young, Business Consultant with Riverland Community
College’s Training and Development Department, will nurture
leadership development by leading
discussions that integrate community
information through dialogue,
interactive exercise and small group
discussion. Candidates are drawn
from every corner of the professional
community including business, industry, education, public
and private agencies, civic groups and non-profit. The cost of tuition
will be released soon. Scholarship opportunities are available but
class sizes are limited. The 2023-2024 season of Leadership Martin
County begins in September 2023. Monthly sessions take place on
the first Wednesday of each month from September through May.
Leadership Martin County requires a commitment of time
and energy from enrolled candidates as sessions occupy one full day
each month. Attendance at the work sessions and all day program
meetings is imperative. Class participants are expected to attend all
sessions except in the case of extreme emergency or illness. Applications
will be available at the Chamber office soon. Contact Kandi

Pork Masters Golf Outing
The 31st Annual Pork Masters Golf
Outing will be held Monday July 24,2023.
Martin County lives high on the hog – we’re
the largest producer of pork in the State of
Minnesota. In 1992, a committee of Martin
County Pork Producers, agribusinesses, and
Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce started
the Minnesota State Pork Masters Golf Outing.
Our goal is to provide a unique networking
event for producers and agribusinesses.
The money collected goes right back into the
community in the form of Ag scholarships,

Fluorescent bulb recycling will be held
in the Tractor Supply parking lot on
Thursday May 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to
1:00p.m. Straight Fluorescent lamps 4' and under
$.50: over 4' $.90. High intensity Discharge Lamps
(HID) $5.00 Fairmont Public Utilities customers
are eligible for total reimbursment for bulb recycling
costs. wgeb droppiing bulbs off for recycling,

Area Career Exploration
The Fairmont Area
Chamber of Commerce
has been busy planning
our annual Career Fair
held at the Fairmont
High School gymnasium
and is attended by up to 100 businesses and
about 600 Sophomore students. This even gives student
the opportunity ti learn about area careers and
employers. This event will be help Wednesday April
12th. This year we decided to bring back the Job
Fair as it went so well last year. the Job Fair is held
in the afternoon and we invite the Fairmont Junior
and Senior students to meet with employers about
what jobs opportunities are available to them.
