HKFC SWIMMERS
SET NEW RECORDS
WITH PODIUM FINISHES AT HKGSA 2022/2023
S
unday 26th March marked the last
of the HKGSA 2022/2023 season
with a long course meet at Sun
Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool.
There was a good showing by the HKFC
swimmers with lots of exciting racing
and podium placings.
Alex Fong kicked things off by winning
the 200m breaststroke and smashing the
existing age group record in the process.
Next up was the 50m freestyle where
Craig Nortje was just able to sneak in
under the age group record for the win.
Edmund Wan was narrowly out touched
and finished second in his age group.
Braedon Sharp and Craig Nortje both took
on the 100m butterfly and finished second
and first in their respective age groups.
home to first place in his age group.
Simon Holiday and Simon Brewster
took fifth and six place in their age
group and Patrick Ip placing second in
his age group.
Congratulations to all the swimmers!
Looking forward to more good result at
the first meet of the 2023/2024 season
on 30th April.
The last event of the morning session
was the 50m backstroke where Braedon
Sharp finished second, Craig Nortje first,
Edmund Wan forth and Patrick Ip was
pipped into second in their age groups.
Looks like Coach Dom needs to work us
harder on our finishes?
The 800m freestyle was in the afternoon
session. This is a tough race not only
for the distance but also with a very
long waiting time before you swim.
Swimmers start in the water, taking
away the advantage of a dive, and
swim two competitors per lane giving
you something extra to think about
while racing. Braedon Sharp stormed
