The curriculum covers the statutory government guidance on the following broad categories:
• Health Education
• Mental wellbeing
• Internet safety and harms
• Physical health and fitness
• Healthy eating
• Drugs alcohol and tobacco
• Health and prevention
• Basic first aid
• Changing the adolescent body
• Relationship and Sex Education
• Intimate and sexual relationships, including sexual health
Teaching the law in relation to the above topics is part of PSHEE and it is important that all
students learn these basic laws as part of their compulsory general education. In addition to the
above economic literacy and careers form part of the programme under the following topics:
• Personal finance (including how to save and invest)
• Enterprise
• Learning about a wide range of careers
• Learning about educational choices needed to pursue different pathways
Parents are invited to discuss any matters of concern with the PSHEE Coordinator in the first
instance. Information on parental right to withdraw from parts of PSHEE can be found in the policy
document: PSHEE-Education-Policy_October-2023.pdf (king-ed.suffolk.sch.uk).
Praise and rewards
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Our school culture is based on celebrating everyone’s talents and achievements. We do this
in many ways – by saying ‘well done’, by awarding merits in and out of lessons, by sending letters
and postcards home. Year Groups also receive awards and praise/acknowledgement through
our Achievement Assemblies. In addition, there are some rewards events throughout the year,
including celebration breakfasts, pizza parties and rewards trips
