The decision by the Sydney
North Planning Panel on
the proposed alterations and
additions to Newport Surf
Club is edging closer.
A public meeting (by videoconference)
is being held on
16 May providing a chance
to speak to the Panel directly
prior to the decision.
The Panel has indicated that
it will aim to publish its decision
on its website within 7
days after the public meeting.
A review is being conducted
by the Panel under
DECISION: Plans
for Newport SLSC.
New call on Newport Surf Club
the Environmental Planning
and Assessment Act 1979 of
the earlier determination in
October 2022 that refused the
development application for
the Surf Club alterations and
additions.
Northern Beaches Council’s
most recent assessment
report of February 2023
recommends that the Panel
approves the development
application (subject to conditions).
The Council received 117
submissions during the public
exhibition period for the
Panel review process, with the
majority being in support of
the alterations and additions.
Additional information
to address the grounds of
refusal in the October 2022
determination has also been
supplied to the Council.
In tandem with the ongoing
Panel review process an
appeal against the earlier
refusal has also been lodged
with the Land and Environment
Court.

Life drawing. All artists at any
level are welcome at fortnightly,
untutored, relaxed and friendly life
drawing sessions at Mona Vale
