Glen Street Theatre is presenting Driftwood
The Musical from 24-28 May – it’s
the moving and enthralling story of a
family surviving the ravages of war, telling
the inspirational account of the renowned
Austrian-Australian sculptor Karl Duldig
and his artist-inventor wife, Slawa Horowitz-
Duldig.
The audience follows their lives in pre-war
Vienna, the family’s narrow escape from
Nazi Austria, Slawa’s ingenious invention
of the foldable umbrella, and the incredible
chain of events that took place after miraculously
escaping the Holocaust and rebuilding
their careers as artists in Melbourne.

New life for
Manly Town Hall
Council will move forward
with studies to explore the
feasibility of turning Manly
Town Hall into a multi-use
performance and exhibition
space and consider
financial, social, cultural
and environmental
outcomes for the community.
The studies will
also consider different
operating models with
economic outcomes.
The results of the studies
will be reported to
Council later in 2023.

As they age into their older
years, it can be common
for cats to develop arthritis – an
inflammatory joint disease,
which commonly affects their
hips, elbows and spine. Arthritis
results from wear and tear and
can be exacerbated by joint
instability, injuries, infection,
immune disorders, and genetic
abnormalities.
Arthritis is a painful condition
because it involves the deterioration
of the protective cartilage
layer. Cats with arthritis may
exhibit reluctance to jump up
or down from furniture, or
they may walk with a stiff gait
and also have reduced activity
levels. They can also display
changes in behaviour, such as
reacting to be patted over sensitive
areas – such as their hips,
or they may develop a matted
or unkept coat as a result of
grooming themselves less if
they are uncomfortable.
If you’re concerned your cat
may be showing signs of arthritis,
it is important to book them
a health check. A full physical
examination will be performed,
and the vet will discuss if any
further diagnostic tests are
required, such as x-rays.
We want your cat to stay
happy and healthy, and there
are several aspects to managing
arthritis in cats. All cats have
an ideal weight dependent on
their breed, size and lifestyle,
and weight management is an
important part of helping your
pet cope with arthritis.
Our vets will provide advice
on weight management,
together with discussing what
treatment options are available
to help keep your cat comfortable.
Treatment options for
arthritis in cats includes antiinflammatory
and pain relief
medications, disease modifying
medications, dietary supplements
and prescription diets.

your cat to have a free dental
check by a vet nurse, discounted
