National Housing Summit 2023 brochure

This September the ICC, Birmingham will host the biggest conversations in social housing. More than 8 million people in England have some form of unmet housing need. The cost of living crisis is making life tougher for our residents. It's vital our sector can provide safe and affordable homes. On 11 and 12 September, we will be asking how we do this with policymakers, experts, and other sectors. This will likely be our last summit before a general election. So, we are thrilled to be hosting speakers like Alastair Campbell and The Spectator's Isabel Hardman. It's our mission for everyone to return with something for their residents. So, we will be running mentoring and learning from our Future Housing Leaders' hub. You can also expect plenty of networking and a chance to roam our vibrant knowledge fair. The National Housing Summit is where we come together to champion the core purpose of housing associations. We hope you will join us.

Meeting our challenges
with confidence.
Dear colleague,
I am excited that the National Housing Summit 2023 is
now well and truly on its way. I always look forward to
times when we get to come together as a sector. This feels
especially vital as this could be our last Summit before a
General Election.
The past year has been difficult, not just for our
organisations and residents, but for millions of individuals
and families in housing need. I don’t have to outline
the importance of the work housing associations do.
We all see this on a daily basis. But, when we gather in
Birmingham, we have a chance to break from what we do
daily and make the case for our sector in a time of change
and opportunity.
I want to thank our events team, advisory boards, and
everyone involved in this year’s conference for making this
possible. We are all looking forward to what comes from
our Election Hackathon and hearing from people like Andy
Street and Fiona MacGregor. I am especially proud of our
Future Housing Leaders hub, which gives the future of our
organisations the chance to be involved.
The theme of Summit 2023 is “Championing our core
purpose”. Our sector has been through a particularly
challenging time. This event will focus on what we have
learnt, how we are providing solutions to problems, and
what more we can do. I truly believe we solve many of the
larger issues in housing and society and that we want to
do even more.
It has never felt more important to make this last point.
Even if this were not a pre-election Summit, the challenges
around the cost of living and finance would make that the
case. I hope that we all leave the National Housing Summit
with the energy to meet these challenges and confidence
in our purpose.
I look forward to seeing you in Birmingham.
National
Housing
Summit 2023
11-12 September
This year’s theme
The rising cost of living and
cost of borrowing has created a
tough environment for housing
associations and their residents
in England. As a result, it has
become more challenging to
deliver our core purpose.
Still, we are determined - and the
National Housing Summit is an
opportunity to champion what
we do. In Birmingham, we will be
coming together at a key moment
before the next General Election.
More than 1,000 senior sector
leaders and key stakeholders in
housing will attend this event.
This gathering of knowledge is
unmatched by any other day
in the calendar and is always
rewarding.
Through diversity of thought,
knowledge, and experience, this
year has the potential to be one
of our most insightful Summit’s to
date.
Now is the time to
make our case. Come
and help us champion
our core purpose.
