LUNCHTIME ORGAN RECITALS
Tuesdays at 1.15pm
Throughout the summer months we welcome a visiting organist
to join us for our Lunchtime Organ Recital programme every
Tuesday. These concerts are free, with a retiring collection, and
take place in the nave of the cathedral. This year’s programme
can be viewed online: herefordcathedral.org/organ-concerts

It is 1890. You have been accused of embezzling money from the
funds of the Vicars Choral. You have been shut in the Old Chapel
until the police arrive, and you have just one hour to work out
who has committed the crime… Our interactive clue-cracking and
decoding game is located in the Old Chapel in the Cloisters. The
experience lasts one hour and is suitable for groups of up to six
people. Each session costs £60. Advance booking via the cathedral
website is essential.
LEGO CLUB
Saturday 15 July 10 am – 12 noon, Wednesday 19 July 3.30 pm
– 4.30 pm, Saturday 16 September 10 am – 12 noon
Enjoy this freestyle Lego session in the cathedral nave with
thousands of bricks and hundreds of mini figures, learn building
techniques and make new friends. This session is free to attend,
spaces are limited so book your free ticket via the cathedral
website. Suitable for young people aged between 8 and 14.
Parents and Carers are welcome to stay, but accompaniment is
not required during the session.
OPEN GARDENS
Saturday 22 July, Saturday 26 August &
Wednesday 13 September, 10 am – 3.30 pm
Visitors will be able to explore the Chapter House Garden,
Cloister Garden, Canons’ Garden, Dean’s Garden and the Bishop’s
Garden at their leisure with our team of volunteer garden guides
on hand in each garden to answer any questions. This is a self-led
event where you are welcome to enjoy the peaceful and beautiful
gardens at your own pace. Tickets £6
ART & SOUL EXHIBITION BY SUSAN EDWARDS
Friday 1 - Wednesday 27 September
Life enhancing and colourful paintings of local landscapes, glorious
gardens, portraits & cathedral subjects by popular local artist
Susan Edwards.

each visitor to provide vital support to our upkeep. If you

MAPPA MUNDI & CHAINED LIBRARY EXHIBITION
Step back in time and explore the cathedral’s historic treasures
with a visit to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library Exhibition.
The Hereford Mappa Mundi is the largest surviving medieval world
map which records how scholars interpreted the world over 700
years ago, and the Chained Library is a spectacular collection holding
over 1,500 rare books, including 229 medieval manuscripts.

The cathedral stands tall within its Close, but it is not and never
has been separate from the surrounding city and county. This
exhibition within the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library draws from
the cathedral archives to show the many and varied links that the
cathedral has had with those who lived and worked both within and
beyond its walls.

programme of teaching, creativity and discovery on the Cathedral

on the Close will be open throughout the summer serving coffees, ice
