The Victorian Government is partnering with Neighbourhood Houses Victoria to make it easier to access the Victorian Sick Pay Guarantee. The Sick Pay Guarantee provides up to 38 hours a year of sick and carer's pay to eligible casual and contract workers in certain jobs. If you need help to sign up for the Sick Pay Guarantee – or if you know someone who needs help – get in touch with Girgarre Community Cottage on (03) 5854 6482. Workers can also sign up and claim the Sick Pay Guarantee online at vic.gov.au/sickpayguarantee or on the Service Victoria app.
Girgarre Football Netball Club Girgarre Gazette August 2023 pg 22 Winning feels good doesn’t it!!! Our Senior footballers finally got that feeling again, and as a club weren’t we excited!! After a slow start we stepped up a gear and never looked back taking the game 10 goals to 5. The run home will be a tough one, playing three top 6 sides, however we will take it in our stride and put in full effort. The Reserves and Thirds also continue to work hard, with our Thirds still sitting in 6 th position, with a couple of must-win games ahead to guarantee a spot in the finals. Our A grade netballers had a tough game against Tally a couple of weeks ago, one we predicted we could have a fair chance to win, however we were rattled early and unfortunately just never got going. With Holly Nelson (Butler) only in her third game back after having her first baby, we look forward to improving further as she gets her game fitness back. The netballers have had some fun at training, with a buddy training and colour themed dress-up. It is great to see the bonding between our junior and senior netballers. Our juniors continue playing strong netball. Both of our 15s and 13s teams should make finals, with our 13&U KDL side undefeated and our 15&Us only having close losses. Our SNA 13&U side have managed a few wins too, but have made some great improvement. It was great to see a few extra supporters as our members cheered them on before making their way to Tallygaroopna late last month. 80-90 people enjoyed a hilarious night when Andy Vening Hypnotist joined us. We saw a number of willing participants get up to be hypnotised and the ever-faithful Sharon Butler again not able to avoid going under. All provided the crowd with a great night of entertainment. We also recently welcomed our sponsors, patrons and life members to an afternoon to say thank you for everything they do to keep our club moving forward. Our Junior Scribble Party was also very well attended, with the younger members of the club having a great night. Well done to all involved. The next function we are busy planning for is the Ladies Day, the first one run in quite some time. We invite all of our ladies to get a table together, all welcome. SOCIAL FUNCTIONS COMING UP Sat 12 th August – Ladies Day Sat 9 th September - GFNC Vote Count Sat 23 rd September – GFNC Presentation Night THURSDAY NIGHT MEALS – are open to all members and locals, meals generally about $15 for a great feed. Kids meals also available. We have had amazing numbers attending, 80-100 meals consistently, so many people excited to be back!! All welcome. Co-ordinator’s Catch-up Greetings all, Girgarre Gazette August 2023 pg 3 Once again, I hope this finds you happy and healthy. We continue to be busy here, there doesn’t ever seem to be much of a lull. If we are not working with people, it is programs, events or paper work! As you can see by the PSB ad (bottom left), this program is concluding at the end of August, so if you have not applied for the latest round please pop into The Cottage with a copy of your most recent electricity bill (all pages) and your bank account details and we will process this for you ASAP. We held our second Farmer’s Day last Friday in Stanhope and it was very successful with approximately 52 people in attendance. This event was a collaboration between Vic Police (Frank Scopelliti), Stanhope & District Development Committee and myself. We had speakers from; Vic Police Crime Prevention, Primary Care Connect, Rural Aid, Work Safe, Campaspe Shire Council-Flood Recovery Officers and Warren Davies “The Unbreakable Farmer”. We also had numerous information displays including the Vic Police Crime Prevention trailer and NE Rural Financial Counselling Service “AgBiz Assist”. I would like to acknowledge The National Centre for Famer Health who financially supported the Day and Fonterra for kindly donating the cheese and biscuits to keep people sustained. A huge thank you to Angelo for the superb catering with the 25 pizza’s, of which all were consumed bar 3, don’t worry they didn't go to waste. Finally, thank you to Donald who swept in at the last minute and saved us from a potentially horrific technical issue. Donald you are a life saver! Brad Allot from AgriClinic is conducting free health checks in Cooma on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. An AgriClinic is conducted by a qualified health clinician specialising in agricultural health and medicine and who is familiar with farming practices. They will assist you to: Understand your current health status and how to improve it. Learn how to keep you, your family and your workers safe. Identify on-farm risks and hazards. Obtain suitable personal protective equipment for your farm tasks What’s involved? Participating is easy – just book and invest 90 minutes of your time and have the following undertaken: Blood glucose testing Blood lipid testing Blood pressure Body mass index calculation Respiratory testing (not during COVID-19) Hearing screening Skin examination Vision testing Urine testing Screening for agrichemical exposure (anticholinesterase) Fit testing of mask or respirator Occupational risk surveying and assessment Prior to your appointment you will be encouraged to complete an occupational health history questionnaire to tailor your consultation to your requirements.
