Gibson’s is pleased to announce The Winter Auction Series catalogue is now online featuring a wide and fascinating array of magnificent items across all collecting categories. Chinese and Japanese decorative arts, Property from the Collection of the late Jan Bayer, is represented by various carved okimono, netsuke and other figures in coral, bronze, and gilt bronze as well as a large and interesting collection of snuff bottles. Oriental property from other collections include: a fine chenxingmu court necklace, an impressive and rare set of Qing dynasty carved bamboo Eight Immortals, a polychrome Guanyin and a fine ‘dreamstone’ marble, hardwood and mother-of-pearl inlaid chair. European furniture is well represented by various estates including a fine 18th century painted screen, originally sourced from John Dunn Antiques. From the Ellerington Collection, there is a superb William & Mary marquetry inlaid cabinet on stand, a fine Regency pollard oak sofa table, an early Georgian parcel gilt and walnut wall mirror. Also from the estate is a large bronze figure of Mercury after the original by Giovanni da Bologna, and an exceptional pair of ormolu candelabra by Henry Dasson. Other delights include a rare and early Royal Doulton ‘Dunce’ figurine by Charles Noke, an unusual sky blue cameo glass vase by Daum, a good small collection of Lalique glass, Royal Worcester, and a fine collection of jewellery and objets de vertu, including pocket watches, a fine collection of gold necklaces and bracelets, gold mesh coin purses, gold cigarette and card cases and a fine collection of antique gold coins.
