We need young people like the
earth needs rain
This was the message of Pope Francis to young
people during World Youth Day in Lisbon 2023. His
Holiness spoke to over 1.5 million young people at
the Final Mass and charged them to “shine, listen
and be not afraid”. Bishop Vincent led a three-week
pilgrimage of 170 young people to many sacred sites
in France and Spain before WYD and then finished
with a retreat in Assisi.

A new priest for the
Diocese of Parramatta
Deacon Tom Green, one of the seminarians of
our Holy Spirit Seminary, will be ordained to
the priesthood on 21 September at St Patrick’s
Cathedral, Parramatta. We pray for his ordination and
his priestly vocation.

The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference have
released their 2023 – 2024 Social Justice Statement,
focusing on “a new engagement with Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Peoples.”
