how did it happen? I initially embarked upon becoming a Real
Estate Broker and was asked to help my mentor with some assets
that were apartments and I liked it and changed career direction
to Property Management
What is the decision process on how you choose your suppliers?

What is the best career-related decision you ever made? The
decision to work for Legacy Partners

company? Team Building skills and promoting excellent
customer service for our clients and residents.

How has the approach to your budget changed in the past 3
years? We were budgeting to cash flow in the last 3 years verses
focusing on building value.
What is the hardest business decision you’ve ever had to make?
Fired my best friend, because there was a performance issue that
was brought to her attention several times and she did not take
the counseling seriously.
What is the fastest growing amenity in the industry today? Cyber
cafes, social media sites, palliates/yoga/massage
What percentage up or down is your NOI? increase
approximately 1.6% increase in NOI from last year.
What is one task/role/responsibility at work that you wish you
didn’t have? Helping organizing storage
If money were not a factor, where would you retire? Italy or the
wine country in Northern California.
If entertaining important guests, what would you prepare/serve for
dinner? Appetizers that include rich cheeses, Italian meats, Cesar
salad and grilled steak or salmon and an amazing bottle of wine.

Who is responsible for helping you break into the industry and
how did it happen? Way back in the summer of 1983 I needed a
job that didn’t require me to work nights as I was attending college
at night to complete my degree. A classmate got me an interview
with her husband, who was a Regional Manager at US Shelter
Corp, to manage a 100 unit All Adult community in Greenville,
South Carolina. He hired me in the interview and the rest is history.
What is the decision process on how you choose your suppliers?
Depends on the type of product or service but referrals from
other reputable management companies are weighed very
heavily in the decision to enter into a new vendor partnership.
What is the best career-related decision you ever made? Moving
to Denver to work for Simpson Property Group
What high school stereotype were you? Band Geek
What movie title best describes your management style?
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
If a reality show were made about your life, what would it be
called? So Many Wineries, So Little Time
What is the most valuable contribution you bring to your
company? Leadership/mentoring

How has the approach to your budget changed in the past 3
years? We use a much more calculated approach to budgeting
income in conjunction with our pricing model, LRO.
What is the hardest business decision you’ve ever had to make?
Any time I have left a good company for what seems like a better
opportunity somewhere else.
What is the fastest growing amenity in the industry today? One
of the most popular and in highest demand is fitness centers.
What percentage up or down is your NOI? Even, income is up
slightly and so are utilities and taxes.
What is one task/role/responsibility at work that you wish you
didn’t have? There aren’t any. I have a GREAT job!
If money were not a factor, where would you retire? Napa Valley
If entertaining important guests, what would you prepare/serve
for dinner? My favorites; Grilled beef tenderloin or Italian cuisine
paired with outstanding wines.

did it happen? Having just relocated from London, England, I was
interviewing with several companies in different lines of business
and happened to stop at an apartment community for directions.
What is the decision process on how you choose your suppliers?
Quality of product/service, its market position, value, and
company philosophy.
What high school stereotype were you? Cool!!
What movie title best describes your management style? Great
question. This will take some thought; real characters who have
served to inspire. Ghandi is one of my favorites.
If a reality show were made about your life, what would it be
called? The Globe Trotter!

Who is responsible for helping you break into the industry
and how did it happen? I answered an ad for a Commercial
Management Company. I loved being in the industry and knew
I was doing what I loved. I was working for a company based out
of LA and they closed the Denver office. I answered an ad and
went to work for Corum Real Estate where I worked for 11 years.
What is the decision process on how you choose your suppliers?
I look for suppliers that are willing to work with small properties
and they need to be a member of AAMD.
What is the best career-related decision you ever made? I went
to college and get my accounting degree and then my CPA
designation. Along the way I also got my Brokers license.
What high school stereotype were you? I didn’t have one, I was
just one of the people that was there because I had to be.

I’m still getting to that...

company? Experience and knowledge

leave a company I loved working for but I needed to move on in
order to continue growing and moving up the corporate ladder.

What is one task/role/responsibility at work that you wish you
didn’t have? I love what I do so there isn’t anything
If money were not a factor, where would you retire? I would split
my time between Santa Barbara and Denver and spend a lot of
time traveling.
If entertaining important guests, what would you prepare/serve
for dinner? Beef Tenderloin, and New York Cheesecake. I love to
cook and could give you an entire menu but I will leave it at that.
