The function of Wyomissing Borough Council is to orchestrate the many vital
organizations within the Borough. They are a body of officials elected by the voters
of the Borough of Wyomissing.
The Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month to review the minutes and
recommendations of the Borough’s many boards, committees and commissions. Council
addresses matters brought to its attention by the Borough Manager, as well as matters
brought to its attention by the Mayor or members of Council for discussion and/or action.
Borough residents and other interested parties are always welcome to attend the Borough
Council meetings as well as any advertised meeting that takes place in Borough Hall.
The meetings are listed on the Borough‘s website, or call Borough Hall at 610-376-7481
the Wyomissing Library or Borough Hall. Entries will be displayed at the Library
before April 21st and at Happy Hollow during Earth Day on April 21st from 10 a.m.
What Do I Do With Sticks?
The Borough is very fortunate to have a long history of tree lined
streets. Along with the many benefits these trees supply there are
also some drawbacks. Help us keep our streets clean by taking
advantage of our “curbside” pick up program. If you have sticks
that have fallen off trees, collect them and place them curbside
every Wednesday from March 14th until December 12th this year.
Sticks or other yard waste must be bundled with twine or placed in
paper “kraft” recyclable bags that are available at the Borough Hall,
Redner’s, Giant, Lowes, or Home Depot. Do not place sticks in the
gutter or on street malls. This practice makes sweeping our streets
far more efficient.
The West Side Emergency
Management Agency is capable
of delivering messages for general as well
as emergency notifications. The West Side
Regional EMA will use CodeRED for both
important general notifications and emergency
notifications. You can manage your preferences
at anytime by creating an account and
re-accessing it to make changes. This may be
done by simply clicking on the Code Red icon link on the Borough
web page: www.co.berks.pa.us/muni/wyomissing
Remember, you will only receive the call if you are in our database,
so don’t delay. Any questions should be directed to
West Side Emergency Management Agency at 610.898.8060.
Before You Go
On Vacation
Many Borough residents contact the Borough Police Department
with a request to have their homes patrolled while they are on
vacation. A Vacation Report Form can even be filled out on the
Borough website: www.co.berks.pa.us/muni/wyomissing.
Another item to consider before going away is to turn off your
water at the main shut-off valve. The main plumbing valve is
usually the first valve after the plumbing pipe comes into your
home. If you aren’t quite sure which one it is, check with your
plumber. If you don’t want to shut down your entire water
system, it is recommended that you at least turn off your toilets
and washing machine. These items seem to leak more often
than other household faucets. Obviously if someone is coming
to check on your house while
you are away and will be
watering plants, etc., you
won’t want to turn off the
entire water system.
ALLIGATOR
DOGS RUnnInG
AT LARGe
Please note that Borough Ordinance # 1246
prohibits dogs from being off- leash anywhere
in the Borough, (except private residential
yards), including the parkland and all Borough
parks. Please comply with this ordinance and
remind others to do so as well. The Borough
Police have received numerous complaints
lately and have stepped up enforcement of
this ordinance. If you want to report a dog
that is off-leash, please call the Police
non-emergency number at 610-655-4911.
