When Ollie attends our
Sunshine Tots playgroup,
he takes part in a variety of
activities designed for children
with additional needs. Without
it, Ollie would miss out on the
opportunity to attend playgroup
like other children his age.
It is thanks to our generous
donors; people like you, that we
can provide Sunshine Tots for
children like Ollie. As well as the
super fun activities we provide,
such as sensory play, arts and
crafts and outdoor learning, the
sessions are also a real lifeline
for parents and families.
Ollie’s mum has also been able
to make friends with other
parents of disabled children
and benefit from the advice of
our allied health professionals:

We offer this Will writing service for free in the hope that you will
remember Capability Scotland in your WIll. There is no legal obligation
for you to choose us. With the generous donations that we receive from
Gifts in WIlls we can continue to provide amazing opportunities for
disabled people in Scotland.
This limited offer covers the cost of a ‘simple Will’ for which Capability
Scotland pays a discounted fee.

Types of Gifts
Leaving a Gift in your Will to Capability Scotland could not be easier
and we are here to ensure that your wishes are considered every step of
the way. You may come across some legal jargon but we have detailed
this below to ensure you are “in the know” and feel empowered to make
the right choice for you and your loved ones.
Residuary
A residuary Gift is a
share of your estate or a
percentage
of your assets.
Pecuniary
A pecuniary Gift is fixed
amount of money.
Specific
A specific item of value
e.g. property, jewellery,
stocks and shares.
Remember any amount you choose to leave could make a real
difference to the lives of disabled people in Scotland.

Do I really need a Will?
Having a Will is the best way to ensure that the people and causes you
care about are looked after.
Do I need a solicitor to write or amend my Will?
We recommend that your Will is reviewed by an expert legal advisor.
We can help you to find a local solicitor who will write your Will for free
through our membership to the Free Wills Network.
What information do I need to leave Capability Scotland a Gift in
my Will?
All you need is our charity name (Capability Scotland) and our charity
number (SC011330). Your solicitor will guide you through the rest.
Are there any tax benefits to leaving a Gift in my Will to Capability
Scotland?
Most Gifts left to us are exempt from Inheritance Tax because we are a
charity. You can find out more about this from HMRC at
www.gov.uk/inheritance-tax or a solicitor.
Should I let you know if I intend to leave Capability Scotland a Gift
in my Will?
We would love to know but there is no obligation. Anything you tell us is
confidential and not legally-binding: your money, your choice.
Can I choose what my Gift is spent on?
Absolutely. We are committed to ensuring that anything that you leave is
spent exactly how you would like it to be.
