Vadim Dolgov, a Canadian artist born in Russia, fell in love <strong>with</strong> art at a young age. After studying classical drawing, painting, and<br />
sculpture at the Orenburg Academy of Art and Design in Russia, he embarked on a successful career as an artist. His work has been<br />
showcased in numerous group and solo exhibitions across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Notably, in 2022, he had a solo show<br />
at Abend Gallery in Denver, Colorado. Recognized <strong>with</strong> various awards, including OPA Signature Member Status, Dolgov's art captures<br />
the beauty and emotion of the human form using classical techniques and themes, enthralling audiences worldwide.<br />

New Artist<br />
Ben, born in 1985 and a long-time resident of Peterborough, had a remarkable journey<br />
from joining the Army at 16 to serving in 29 Commando Regiment as a Bombardier. After<br />
leaving the Army, he pursued a career as a builder and carpenter.<br />
During a trip to the Lake District in February 2017, Ben's passion for art ignited when he<br />
couldn't afford a painting he adored. This newfound passion became therapeutic for his<br />
PTSD and OCD, stemming from his service as a Section Commander in Afghanistan at just<br />
20 years old. Renowned for his unique use of light, Ben's paintings evoke a sense of mood<br />
and emotion, captivating viewers and transporting them into the scenes he creates.<br />

G E O F F B E C K E T T<br />
Geoff Beckett grew up on a Welsh farm near<br />
the Cheshire and Shropshire borders. Art and<br />
maths were the two subjects he pursued at school<br />
but the "sensible" option prevailed and he read<br />
Mathematics and Statistics at York University.<br />
He worked in finance and accounts for a couple<br />
of years before a series of commissions and the<br />
chance to run a gallery brought him back into the<br />
art world. He spent the next few years splitting<br />
his time between painting and running a gallery<br />
and framing business <strong>with</strong> his sister near their<br />
family home, before dropping out of the business<br />
to concentrate on his artwork. Geoff now lives in<br />
rural Cheshire and paints from home in a house that<br />
often gets overrun by artwork but provides a cosy<br />
retreat to paint in.<br />

full time. Asked to describe<br />
her technique, Marie says,<br />
“I take great delight in starting<br />
a new painting, brushing in<br />
the skies, this is the only time<br />
I use a brush; I then use pallet<br />
knives and my fingers to create<br />

“Having worked in Design and<br />
advertising for twenty years and moving<br />
later in to the wall art industry, creating<br />
things has always been a part of my life.<br />
Inspired by a love of all things green and<br />
having been fortunate enough to have<br />
spent a childhood playing in fields, I still<br />
return from walks <strong>with</strong> handfuls of weeds<br />
and grasses. The texture and shapes are<br />
an endless source of painting material,<br />
the most beautiful things can often be<br />
found in the most unlikely of places from<br />
the roadside to waste ground.<br />
The end result for me when painting an<br />
image is to hopefully create something<br />
that is ‘pretty’, that is simply a pleasure<br />
to look at and lets you find a new little<br />
detail the more you look in to the image.”<br />

ANNA SCHOFIELD<br />
Anna is a self taught artist and mainly paints<br />
in oils. All of her paintings are created <strong>with</strong><br />
love and care from her studio in Cotgrave.<br />
She loves travelling and documenting<br />
interesting parts of nature, seascapes, skies,<br />
harbours and mainly light. The places she<br />
visits, live long in her memory until she is<br />
ready to bring them back to life on canvas<br />
<strong>with</strong> her own interpretation.<br />
She starts the artwork by creating a<br />
suggestion of the mark using acrylic, gesso<br />
or other media and then covers it <strong>with</strong> many<br />
layers of oil paint. Texture is integral part<br />
of her work and she enjoys the process of<br />
evolving areas as they emerge. She works<br />
mainly <strong>with</strong> palette knives, fingers and a<br />
variety of other implements as well as brushes<br />
to create diversity in her mark-making. Her<br />
combination of texture, strong colours and<br />
light create an uplifting and positive result.<br />
Some paintings take a few hours, some a<br />
couple of days and others a few weeks as<br />
she lives <strong>with</strong> the painting and constantly<br />
adds changes and details to make sure she<br />
has captured everything she wanted to say.<br />
Her abstracts are strongly influenced by her<br />
passion for Argentine tango and emotional<br />
response to nature.<br />

Duncan started painting professionally aged 19 and had his first exhibition that year. Soon after this he gave up<br />
painting to study Architecture in London but returned to pursue his career as a full time artist a few years later<br />
and has continued to attract collectors who appreciate fine oil and watercolour paintings.<br />
Inspired by Edward Seago, William Turner, Julius Olson and the Newlyn School of Artists who worked in<br />
Cornwall in the last century Duncan’s distinctive representational style captures texture, light and atmosphere<br />
in his landscapes and coastal scenes. He endeavours to evoke the same principals in his treatment of the<br />
interplay of light that those artists so successfully achieved in their paintings. More recently he has diversified<br />
into a more fluid approach using oils on gesso board as a medium for his beach scenes to show his love of the<br />
sea <strong>with</strong> its movement, rhythms and space.<br />
