Global News The Autism Progran of Global WiLAT Global WiLAT has taken steps in the space of DEI, with a special emphasis on Autism to enable organizations to create work cultures that provide a conducive environment for people with autism to support them to reach their full potential. While autism diagnosis is on the rise, an increased number of companies are establishing hiring and recruiting campaigns and building new hiring processes with this large population of workers in mind. On the 30th November Global WiLAT organized a webinar on the topic of ‘Raising Autism Awareness at Home & Work – Understanding to Acceptance & everything in between.’ The webinar was created on autism awareness by a panel of three experts who shared their views and insights around the topic. Dr. Rosa Kwok gave 30 minutes lecture on the Autism behaviors traits. Dr Rosa Kwok is a cognitive psychologist with interests in typical and atypical language development in dual language learners. She has taught over 10,000 students (including primary, secondary and university students). She has over 13 years of rigorous laboratory research training and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed psychology journals. Her research focuses on using evidence-based solution to support children with special educational needs to learn more effectively. Ms. Imali Jayathilake, Director Subsidiary Company/Head of Human Resources, Hayles Advantis LTD Sri Lanka shared the strategies and steps her organization has taken to get the leadership team to champion DEI initiatives and implement best practices to ensure organizations don’t recruit with bias. Global WiLAT committed to join hands with the Yongo Platform to build and support a community that are faced with challenges around autism. Gregory Martin, the CEO and President at Edduus, was one of the Speaker’s at this webinar. He is the creator /founder of evolutionary communities of learning Platform Yongo, that enables people to gain knowledge in the things that they love and are passionate about. In our case Yongo will support us in Autism Awareness and community building. He added how Yongo will support creating communities especially to build Autism awareness at work and Home. And their future strategies and new developments of “Yongo” as a learning platform. The Global WiLAT community actively participated in this webinar to drive our DEI agenda forward.building. In a global effort to raise awareness on breast cancer Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held in October every year, aims to promote screening and prevention of the disease, which affects one in eight women in the United States every year and 2.3 million women worldwide. Known best for its pink theme color, the month features a number of campaigns and programs — conducted by groups ranging from breast cancer advocacy organizations to local community organizations to major retailers — aimed at: - supporting people diagnosed with breast cancer, including metastatic breast cancer - educating people about breast cancer risk factors - stressing the importance of regular screening, starting at age 40 or an age that’s appropriate for your personal breast cancer risk - fundraising for breast cancer research Breast Cancer Awareness Month was established in the early 1980s to promote breast cancer awareness, early detection, and support for individuals and families affected by the disease. Since then, it has become a global movement that has contributed to increased awareness and improved outcomes for breast cancer patients. -30- Wings of Change

The aim of the IWD 2024 #InspireInclusion campaign is to collectively forge a more inclusive world for everyone. We encourage all our WiLAT Territories to organize their very own IWD event for 2024 under the campaign theme.
