NEW NATURAL WEATHER SIREN
The Operations Division installed a new siren
system on campus over the summer that
ties in with the City of Lubbock’s Outdoor
Warning System. The new siren is located
on top of the Mechanical Engineering
building and will serve as notice for the
campus in the event of an outdoor weather
emergency. The new siren replaces older
equipment and will be monitored by the City
of Lubbock with assistance offered from the
Operations Division when needed. The siren
will be tested, along with all of the city’s
sirens, on the second Friday of each month.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER
TRAINING
Operations Division employees are required to
complete multiple educational safety trainings
throughout the year on various topics. One
such safety briefing occurred this summer
when all Operations Division employees were
invited to participate in fire extinguisher safety
training. The training was conducted by the
Texas Tech Fire Marshall’s office and gave all
participants hands-on experience in using a
fire extinguisher. The training also included tips
and tricks, an explanation of the importance
of annual inspections, as well as knowledge
of the basic P.A.S.S. acronym for safety - Pull,
Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.
