What will you
be wearing for
Valentine's Day?
It's finally February, and Valentine's Day
is fast approaching! This year the day falls
on a Wednesday, and brands have already
started preparing and stocking shelves
with classic red and pink products to
celebrate this special occasion.
Shoppers everywhere will be
persuaded to buy love-themed
products and fashions that will be
worn perhaps just once for a special
Valentine's Day date or to stay at
home and watch a favourite rom-com.
Staying in is the new to going out;
we all know that. Whether planning
a date with Deliveroo or preparing
a movie night with friends at home,
staying in this year is OK and the
new normal.
Traditionally, Valentine's Day
has meant nights out with friends
or a partner; however, ever since the
pandemic, people have become more
comfortable staying at home and still
having a great time.
Whether you're going out or
staying at home, here are a few
Valentine's Day outfits and top picks
that are predicted to be best sellers
this February.
RED AND PINK
Firstly, red and pink which
have traditionally been the classic
Valentine's Day colour scheme for
most wardrobes worldwide.
These colours originated from the
roses given out for centuries as a sign
of love. They have been associated
with Valentine's Day since the
Victorian era when the language of
giving flowers first became popular
in Britain.
Fashion brands have always
used these romantic colours within
marketing and collections to draw
attention to their new products.
This year 'millennial pink' may
be the year's top colour! Whereas
bright pinks have been popular in
recent years, this viral shade of light
pink, which you may remember was
popular in 2015, is now making a big
come back. It has recently been at the
forefront of many colour schemes.
Just when you thought Gen Z —
those born from the mid-1990s to
the early 2010s in the Western world
— was taking over, millennial pink
has returned to take command of
this year's fashions.
If you decide to dress for the
occasion and go somewhere special,
you'll want the perfect dress.
This year, the classic satin slip
dress with a languid cardigan draped
over the shoulders will bring a touch
of femininity and sensuality to the
romance.
SEQUINS
Alternatively, you could slip into
a fabulous sequin party dress for a
living room disco with friends.
Zara has a number of sequin
styles for every occasion to add some
excitement to your wardrobe.
For a more casual look this
Valentine's Day, Gucci's cable-knit
jumper will cover you if you want to
follow the luxury route.
Pairing this elegant jumper with
Alexander McQueen's classic take on
the knee-high walking boot and Levi
jeans will transform the look while
