Imram: Readings, Poetry and Discussion with<br />
Róise Ní Bhaoill<br />

Derry’s Guildhall plays host to a special lunchtime event offering local audiences a unique<br />
opportunity to hear firsthand a selection of readings in the <strong>Irish</strong> <strong>language</strong> by awardwinning<br />
<strong>Irish</strong> <strong>language</strong> author Róise Ní Bhaoill from whose recently-published collection<br />
of short stories – Imram - won the <strong>Irish</strong> <strong>language</strong> fiction book the year award in November<br />
2023. Featuring readings from the author’s own short stories and contemporary poetry<br />
collection, this event is particularly suitable for fluent speakers of <strong>Irish</strong> or advanced learners<br />
of the <strong>language</strong>.<br />
Booking is essential.<br />

Presentation of <strong>Irish</strong> Language Books:<br />
World Book Day <strong>2024</strong><br />
4Mayor’s Parlour<br />
Reading from a young age is vitally important for children, both to develop their literacy<br />
skills and to inspire their young imagi<strong>na</strong>tions. This World Book Day the Mayor of Derry City<br />
and Strabane District Council, Councillor Patricia Logue will welcome students from <strong>Irish</strong><br />
medium primary schools from across the city and district to the Mayor’s Parlour to make<br />
a special presentation of <strong>Irish</strong> <strong>language</strong> books to each school, and hopefully inspire a new<br />
generation of young <strong>Irish</strong> speakers to fall in love with reading.<br />
