The men’s Guinness Six<br />

Nations may be coming to<br />

an end today but there is still<br />

plenty of international rugby<br />

action to look forward to.<br />

Next weekend it will be the<br />

turn of the women to take<br />

centre stage as their kick-off<br />

their own Championship.<br />

Hannah Jones’ side will mirror<br />

the fixtures of their male<br />

counterparts by kicking-off<br />

at home against Scotland at<br />

Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday.<br />

They then travel to Bristol’s<br />

Ashton Gate to meet England<br />

before flying to Cork to meet<br />

Ireland. Their final two games<br />

are back in the Welsh capital,<br />

with France coming to the<br />

Arms Park on Sunday, 21<br />

April and <strong>Italy</strong> arriving on<br />

Saturday, 27 April for a game<br />

at Principality Stadium.<br />

The Welsh men’s team have<br />

a great summer lined-up<br />

as they seek to continue<br />

their development. They<br />

will take on the world<br />

champion Springboks at<br />

Twickenham on Saturday,<br />

22 June (KO 2.00pm) before<br />

heading to Australia for a<br />

two Test, three match tour.<br />

They face Joe Schmidt’s<br />

Wallabies in Sydney on<br />

Saturday, 6 July at Allianz<br />

Park and a week later,<br />

Saturday, 13 July, they meet<br />

again in Melbourne at<br />

AAMI Park. <strong>Wales</strong> haven’t<br />

beaten Australia in their<br />

own backyard since 1969,<br />

so it is a great opportunity<br />

to create some history.<br />

The tour will end with a<br />

game against Queensland<br />

Reds Brisbane’s Suncorp<br />

Stadium on Friday, 19 July.<br />

<strong>Wales</strong> last met Queensland<br />

on their 1991 tour, when they<br />

were beaten 35-24. The only<br />

other meeting was in 1978,<br />

when <strong>Wales</strong> won 31-24.<br />

This summer will also see<br />

the <strong>Wales</strong> U20 side return<br />

to South Africa for the<br />

second year in a row to take<br />

part in the World Rugby<br />

U20 Championship. The<br />

12-team tournament runs<br />

from 29 June – 19 July and<br />

<strong>Wales</strong> are drawn in Pool A<br />

with France, New Zealand<br />

and newcomers Spain.<br />

The French have won the<br />

last three editions of the<br />

tournament, while New<br />

Zealand have won the most<br />

titles since <strong>Wales</strong> hosted the<br />

inaugural U20 Championship<br />

in 2008, with six. Spain<br />

qualified by winning the<br />

second tier World Rugby<br />

U20 Trophy last summer.<br />

<strong>Wales</strong> met both New Zealand<br />

and France in their Pool last<br />

summer, losing 27-26 and 43-<br />

19 respectively, before going<br />

on to finish sixth overall. The<br />

pool games will be played<br />

the Danie Craven Stadium<br />

and the Athlone Stadium,<br />

with the final taking place<br />

at Cape Town Stadium.<br />

On the club front, the BKT<br />

United Rugby Championship<br />

league matches will come<br />

to a head in <strong>Wales</strong> on<br />

Judgement Day at Cardiff<br />

City Stadium. Tickets are<br />

currently on sale for the<br />

double-header on Saturday,<br />

1 June for the Round 18<br />

matches - Scarlets v Dragons<br />

and Cardiff v Ospreys.<br />

Ticket prices have been<br />

frozen at 2023 prices with a<br />

limited number of tickets at<br />

£10 adults/£5 juniors being<br />

made available. Tickets are<br />

available via the Cardiff City<br />

Stadium ticketing site.<br />

The URC knock-out games<br />

begin on Friday, 7 June and<br />

the Grand Final is Saturday,<br />

22 June. In European<br />

competition, the EPCR<br />

Challenge Cup final is on<br />

Friday, 24 May (KO 20.00)<br />

and the Investec Champions<br />

Cup final is on Saturday, 25<br />

May (KO 14.45), with both<br />

games taking place at the<br />

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.<br />
