It’s my great pleasure to introduce you to Local 37’s <strong>Membership</strong><br />
<strong>Guide</strong>. Whether you’re new to the <strong>IBEW</strong>, new to unions, or a longtime<br />
member, I’m sure you’ll find it really helpful. This guide<br />
includes lots of good information about your union, its structure,<br />
history, and the many benefits of membership. Of course, if we’ve<br />
missed something, or you still have questions, just tell us. We’ll<br />
get you what you need.<br />
As part of the <strong>IBEW</strong> Local 37 family, you join more than 2500<br />
members proudly working throughout New Brunswick in many<br />
different sectors and professions including utility, construction,<br />
maintenance, television, communications, engineering, administration,<br />
IT, among others.<br />
Your union is here for you with the support, resources and<br />
expertise needed to protect your rights and help make your life<br />
better – the <strong>IBEW</strong> is always a powerful advocate to have on your<br />
side. We have a team of professionals dedicated to representing<br />
members just like you with workplace issues, developing and<br />
delivering programs to enrich your union experience, and helping<br />
make sure you get the most out of your membership.<br />
I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “strength in numbers”. Well, that<br />
speaks directly to the value of a union in today’s workplace. It’s<br />
this strength that enables us to protect, enhance, and enjoy the<br />
many rights and privileges that have been successfully negotiated<br />
over the years (e.g., vacation, sick leave, benefits, top wage pack-<br />
