Park School
ADVERTISING FEATURE
Nestled in the heart of the South Downs
National Park, with views out to the Isle
of Wight, Ditcham Park School commands
a rare and beautiful vista in Hampshire.
A former hunting lodge, owned by the Cowper-Coles
family, then a small prep school, the site was purchased by
Ditcham’s founder – Patricia (Paddy) Holmes. Her vision was
to create a small, nurturing independent school for children
who would benefit from focused support and strong pastoral
care. The school opened in the
Autumn of 1976 with 97 pupils.
To this day, Paddy remains a
loyal supporter of the school
and comes to as many events,
shows and celebrations as
possible – there is a strong
sense of community within
Ditcham that is embedded from
pupils to parents and staff and
you feel that the moment you
step through the doors of the
school.
Today, Ditcham still retains that
sense of support and nurture,
maintaining small tutor groups
to ensure that ‘every child is
known and valued’. The school has grown to over 430 pupils,
taking in children from rising 3 years to 16 years of age. As
a truly independent co-educational day school, Ditcham
has much to offer pupils with a strong record for academic
and sporting achievement. The school boasts sweeping
views across the Hampshire countryside, set atop one of
the highest ‘peaks’ in the South Downs which means the
weather can be extreme! Thankfully, Ditcham pupils and staff
are hardy, and you will find them outside playing sports in
horizontal rain or sleet as well as on gloriously warm summer
afternoons. There is no bad weather at Ditcham, just bad
shoe choices!
Talent is celebrated and encouraged at Ditcham with a
range of scholarships and programmes. The curriculum is
inspired and the unique selling point is that STEAM (science,
technology, engineering, arts and maths) is woven throughout
every subject. Come and visit us to find out more.
