Wendy thanked Jane for the previous work that she had done as president. Sub Committes will<br />

now need to submit a report prior to meeting and only add changes to their minutes at the P&F<br />

Nothing to report. All information has been handed from Wendy to Carla.<br />

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT<br />

• Working with the new board is a delight.<br />

• Working on providing parents with information regarding curriculum, Standards with in the<br />

school, benefits of the school and to clarify what it is that the school has to offer so we<br />

can market the school in the appropriate way.<br />

• Website is ours to develop. Steve has already met with a Graphic Designer. New Website<br />

will be available in approx 3mths. The website will reflect what the school has to offer to<br />

prospective parents and businesses in the community.<br />

o There will also be a link through the website to Noodle. It is a website that<br />

parents and children can access for assessment Calenders, assignment work<br />

Selective release of the website will occur in the next couple of months to test if it will be<br />

successful and how it will work.<br />

• Application for State Government 75% projects is being applied for second set of tennis<br />

courts. Part of the grant must show a community benefit.<br />

• A covered walk way has been talked about at previous meeting on the senior school.<br />

Steve is appreciative of the view to do something of great importance however the<br />

covered area is not a viable option at the moment it will cost a lot of money.<br />

• <strong>School</strong> received a reading Projects Grant $10,000.00.<br />

• Steve Croft is meeting with Local Businesses to see what we can do to assist businesses<br />

in the community to build better opportunities within the college with benefits to come to<br />

our children as well as into the future.<br />

• Further discussion with Delfin Land Corporation re beautifying the front of the <strong>Senior</strong><br />

College, Gardens, Landscaping, Moving the sign so it is more geographically seen. There<br />

will be new signage at the front of the senior campus within the next couple of months in<br />

line with the new directives from the board.<br />

• Discussed the use of the Sports Oval on the senior Campus. It is a duty of care etc.<br />

Having a staff member free to be able to monitor the Oval.<br />

• It was also discussed with Steve about Tiering on the oval for the junior school for stairs<br />

and seating.<br />

• Steve suggested an idea of fundraising that some schools do to build buildings…Selling<br />

of Bricks.<br />

SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS<br />

1. CAST <strong>–</strong> Rina Sandford<br />

As per the minutes. A caterer is required for the Outback Music Tour from the 27-30 th<br />

April<br />

Auction raised $2280. Good feedback from those that attended<br />

2. Community Alliance Programme <strong>–</strong><br />

Jane Duncan now holds the position of running The Community Alliance Program.<br />

Two new Businesses a florist, photographer and Jane needs to Check with the pool shop<br />

if they would like to come on board<br />

3. Fundraising and Sponsorship <strong>–</strong> Lisa Sylvester<br />

Car Boot Sale<br />

It was discussed that all hands on deck is needed in getting the word out for the<br />

advertising information for future car boot sales.<br />

Professionally Printed Signage is needed with changeable dates. A quote was being<br />

obtained<br />

A representative from the Sports Committee is required to attend the meeting the P&F<br />

meetings monthly. No one in attendance tonight<br />

7. Stocks & Stores <strong>–</strong> Tania Scanlan<br />

Tania and Patty are to organise a donate a drink Drive to get drinks to go towards the<br />

Twilight Market or Bush dance so we don’t have as many to buy.<br />

8. Twilight Markets <strong>–</strong> Wendy Hayden<br />

A decision will need to be made on the company to supply rides for the Twilight Market.<br />

No decision made.<br />

GENERAL BUSINESS<br />

Suggestions on what to spend money on<br />

• Cover the stairs on the Junior campus between the covered area and the classes on the<br />

next level<br />

• Bus Stop Covers- quote to be obtained<br />

• Data Projectors 5 in total. Steve Croft to obtain Quote. Vote taken motion passed to<br />

purchase these.<br />

• Interactive White Boards<br />

• Marque that can be used for Shelter Steve to get a quote<br />

• Year 6 to establish friendship chairs. A P& F member will mentor them in how to go about<br />

purchasing and researching the product. Vote taken. Motion passed to support and<br />

purchase the chairs.<br />

Other forms of Advertising for P&F events were discussed.<br />

• P&F Facebook Page for advertising events. This has already been set by Wendy and<br />

Congratulations to Wendy<br />

• Wendy had a baby girl Caitlyn Emma (Sorry about spelling) on Monday morning, all<br />

going and well and a big good on you to all the family.<br />

Welcome to New Staff<br />

• WELCOME!!! Mrs Glen Lockington who will be taking Wendy’s classroom music.<br />

• WELCOME!!! Mr Ben Hooper who will be taking Sherina’s senior school classes to<br />

create more time for Sherina to do the administrative work while filling Wendy’s<br />

position.<br />

Vivace Auditions<br />

• Grade 1 string ensembles will be this Friday afternoon.<br />

Rostrum Blocks<br />

• Not sure what size will be required as drama room has to be decided on.<br />

• Laura will have a trial lesson in the demountable to assess whether it will be effective<br />

for dance lesson. Concerned about the wall that interrupts the room. ? swap with the<br />

music room if it does not work.<br />

• Not sure how long the demountable will be used as a room until a permanent room will<br />

be found.<br />

• When sure of room Laura and Jackie will get together to figure out what size rostrums<br />

they require to fit the room because storage of the rostrums has to be taken into<br />

consideration<br />

Dance Update<br />

• Performance dance team had four 1.5 hour training sessions over the holidays to ready<br />

for performance at Ipswich Eisteddfod on the last Thursday of Term 2 and then in<br />

Beenleigh Eisteddfod in Term 3.<br />

• <strong>Parent</strong>s have purchased dance shoes for their children.<br />

• Costumes need to be purchased for the boys at a cost of $315 ($35/shirt). May need<br />

extra leotards for the girls<br />

• All costumes purchased by TSC are presented to the students on Performance day and<br />

collected immediately after.<br />

• Laura Bonner has costed dance bars for the dance room. To purchase 3 bars will afford<br />

a 10% discount. The dance bars are each 4 metres in length. Will get more exact quotes<br />

in the coming month.<br />

• BPAC going well. Finishing off choreography and then will practice and polish for<br />

Sunday 12 th of June<br />

Junior Campus Sausage Sizzle<br />

• Week 8 THURSDAY 3 rd JUNE.<br />

• $3 Bread & sausage with small fruit drink (# flavours, orange, apple, blackcurrant)<br />

• Will ensure a pre ordering system so as to know exact numbers of stock required.<br />

the senior school stall<br />

• Rebecca Brown and Laura Bonner to remind all students of Mothers Day Stall and put<br />

messages in the daily notices as Sarah and Sherina will be away.<br />

Trade Show Evening<br />

• Term 3 Week 3 Possible date Friday the 23 rd of July<br />

• Check with Deleece as she has many of the contact numbers for people wanting to do<br />

this.<br />

• May add Oasis party plan people to the list of names.<br />

• Sherina to discuss with Deleece about what funds we can raise from holding this trade<br />

show evening e.g. 10% of sales ? Also to discuss donation of small items by each stall<br />

holder to raffle/door prize on the night.<br />

• Some small dance pieces will be attended by dance students for entertainment during<br />

the night<br />

Welcome Back Concert<br />

• Week 6 Tuesday 18 th of May<br />

• Will have raffle as Some FANTASTIC PRIZES have been donated by the Battelley Family.<br />

There are three great Camping Packs Valued at $1350, $640 and $395.<br />

• Raffle Tickets will be $1 each and books of 20 will be given to each child in performing<br />

arts groups to sell.<br />

• Extra tickets will be held at reception at both campuses.<br />

• Ensemble directors will also have extra tickets<br />

• A flyer will be created by Sue Cosgrove so it can be put with raffle tickets in an envelope<br />

to be given to students. Flyer will be emailed to Sarah Smith to copy and give to Karen<br />

Wohling who will put tickets together. Flyer will be emailed to Sherina so it can be<br />

copied into the next issue of Threads.<br />

• Sherina to buy the raffle tickets and envelopes and give to Karen<br />

• Prizes will be drawn at the Welcome Home Concert. 18 th May.<br />

Music Tour<br />

• Uniforms will not arrive in time for the concert. However they will arrive in time for the<br />

Welcome Home Concert<br />

• Students will now wear the red tour t‐shirts with blue jeans and sport shoes.<br />

• Plan has changed with the staff as Mrs Morton is unable to attend. All parent helpers<br />

and teachers will be contributing to the cooking.<br />

• Amanda Robertson will now come along on tour (is a nanny by profession, also has a<br />

blue card)<br />

• Need Cooking Equipment. Need big pots to cook rice and pasta for meals for 58<br />

people. Need Electric Frypans and Rice Cookers if anyone has these items to spare for<br />

the trip. They will be returned once tour has returned.<br />

• Taking 1 car as an extra which will tow an enclosed furniture trailer which will cost $350<br />

to hire for 1 week.<br />

• Photo book letters have been sent out. The cost is $25. Money is due 23 rd April. There<br />

will be about 4 photos per page it should be fantastic.<br />

• Jane Duncan is no longer looking after the Community Alliance Programme and it will be handed<br />

back to Wendy Hayden<br />

• We currently have 25 CAP partners<br />

• The CAP section of the website has been revamped and you now just need to click on the<br />

business name to get a profile of the business and details of what they offer<br />

• There are 2 current prospects. They are South West Flowers and Quest Serviced Apartments <strong>–</strong><br />

both came to us.<br />

• All partners have been sent an email reminding them to send their remittances.<br />

TWILIGHT MARKETS SUB‐COMMITTEE REPORT<br />

FOR COMMITTEE MEETING TO BE HELD ON 27 April 2010<br />

ACTIVITY THROUGHOUT THE MONTH:.<br />

• Tania Scanlan has sent letters and/or emails to all the stall holders and entertainers from 2009<br />

with application forms. We have already received some back.<br />

• Michael Thompson has obtained quotes for the generators and lights and booked them in with<br />

MasterHire.<br />

• Michael Thompson will contact Ipswich City Council regarding bins and toilets.<br />

• Wendy Hayden has narrowed down the rides to 4 packages (Attached)<br />

• Sponsorship and Raffle Prize letters have been amended and will be sent out in the next week or<br />

so. For the major sponsors, a page containing colour photos of last year’s event will be included.<br />

• Once the rides have been finalised, a mudmap of this years event will be drawn up so we will<br />

know exactly how many stalls we can have.<br />

• We will be hiring our stage this year from Carnivalland who can provide a 7.5x5mtr stage with fill<br />

canopy and sides along with lighting trusses and PA wings for $1,295<br />

• A note has been sent out in Threads asking for any businesses that may be able to assist with the<br />

stage and/or PA hiring costs<br />

• The Fireworks have been booked in again with All Fired Up (Paul Gianotti)<br />

Meeting 19/04/10<br />

Sport results<br />

All results listed in Threads <strong>–</strong> Both JTAS & TAS swim teams performed well, JTAS<br />

coming 3 rd overall.<br />

Futsal <strong>–</strong> all teams competed well and 16 years girls made the final. 5 students selected<br />

to trial for QLD team, Lachlan Jackson made Australian <strong>School</strong> Futsal team.<br />

Equestrian <strong>–</strong> junior team won the first competition.<br />

New Rep shirt & new team strips<br />

Prices of rep shirts <strong>–</strong> the board sets the prices <strong>–</strong> these cost will remain the same.<br />

Soccer strips <strong>–</strong> Tim will attend the next P&F to discuss funding<br />

Cross Country<br />

All reports were good, however Preps race had too many kid helpers, we only need 1 or<br />

2 helpers leading the way for next year.<br />

Students absent or at other sporting events can not submit times to win age champion,<br />

you must compete in the race to win, however they can be included in the regional and<br />

JTAS & TAS teams.<br />

Football<br />

Much discussion about the Ipswich competition, Tim is still finding out more information<br />

to pass onto Andy, Steve and the board. It was noted that TAS & JTAS must be<br />

supported first.<br />

<strong>Parent</strong> <strong>Coaching</strong> <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Trimester</strong> 3 <strong>–</strong> <strong>starts</strong> <strong>mid</strong><br />

<strong>August</strong>.<br />

All parent coaches must obtain a blue card. A discussion took place with regards to the<br />

proposal that parent coaches must not coach their own child’s team. <strong>Parent</strong> coaches will<br />

still be required to help coach other teams, until fully accredited coaches can be<br />

supplied.<br />

Please email feedback to Andy by Tuesday night 20 th of April, before he meets with<br />

Steve.<br />

Junior Athletics<br />

Years 4-6 Inter clan field events will be held over set days during this term. The Inter<br />

Clan track and field carnival will be held on June 11. Year 7 students compete with the<br />

years 8-12 however they will be able to get times etc to submit so they will be included<br />

in the Central districts Athletics which is held early in Term 3.<br />

Records<br />

Linda Brumell is keeping records of students making regional, state & national levels as<br />

well as all <strong>Trimester</strong>/Term sport winners <strong>–</strong> player of the year / most improved players.<br />

Web site<br />

A new improved web site will be up and running soon and a sport area will be updated<br />

regularly to advise on fixtures and changes etc.<br />
