INTERNATIONAL TRAVELING
EXHIBITIONS
The success of The Children’s Museum’s 2006 exhibit run
extended to its International Traveling Exhibitions initiatives.
The museum’s long-time traveling exhibitions combined
with new offerings to deliver an extraordinary 100
percent of available bookings for the year.
In late November 2005, generous funding from the Delta
Faucet Company was secured to develop Bob the
Builder — Project: Build It. Based on the popular tele-
vision series, the exhibit inspired visitors to spend time in
“Sunflower Valley” with Bob, Wendy and the world of colorful
machines that make up the rest of the can-do crew.
During the project’s development, over 50 venues across
the country expressed an interest in the exhibition,
prompting the decision to construct and tour two identical
exhibits. By June 2006, the highly anticipated exhibit
debuted at the museum to large audiences of eager children
and their families. Reinforcing environmentally
friendly themes, the exhibit inspired teamwork and
hands-on problem solving skills in preschoolers.
Following a three-month stay, this exhibit began its
national tour in Fall 2006. Bob the Builder— Project:
Build It is currently booked at venues across the United
States through 2009.
