Creating a Legacy–Heritage Society Honors Loyal Donors
CCAC has a long tradition of loyal donors.
To recognize the generosity of those who have
supported CCAC over the years, the CCAC
Educational Foundation founded the Heritage
Society in 1995. The society is made up of
alumni, faculty, staff and friends who have
created planned gifts to benefit the college.
Currently there are 14 members of the society
(see donor listing, page 9). Every member
has generously agreed to provide the college
planned gifts such as charitable bequests,
remainder trusts, gift annuities and life
insurance proceeds.
Heritage Society members play an important
role in enhancing CCAC’s educational mission.
Donors become society members when they
inform the CCAC Educational Foundation that
they have independently established a planned
gift or when they work with foundation staff in
creating such a gift. A gift may be of any size.
Donors determine the type of planned gift
and its size based on their personal experience,
individual financial objectives and other
special interests.
Creating Your Legacy
Planned gifts have always been a crucial part
of the college’s financial growth and stability,
especially regarding endowment funds. Some
of CCAC’s buildings and many scholarships
bear the names of generous donors who chose
to create a planned gift. These tributes illustrate
well how planned gifts continue to have a
lasting impact on our students’ lives.
CCAC sincerely thanks all of our Heritage
Society members for investing in the security
and growth of the college. These donors have
entrusted their dreams and aspirations for the
future of CCAC into the care and custody of
the college. They have welcomed CCAC into
their families by sharing from their estates, or
other resources.
We invite you to follow their generous lead
by joining the Heritage Society through your
planned gifts. Join other alumni and friends
in the Heritage Society who are contributing to
keeping CCAC affordable for students in our
region, by contacting Nancy Hart, director,
Major Gift Programs and Office Administration
at 412.237.6575 or nhart@ccac.edu.
“We are delighted to
recognize our donors’
generous support in this
way. Their support helps
to strengthen and sustain
the intellectual life
of the college and carries
CCAC’s vital mission
into the future.”
executive director,
CCAC Educational Foundation
Contrary to some common beliefs, estate planning isn’t just for the wealthy. There are many ways to help pass along assets to family
members, often with better results than initially thought possible, while including CCAC in the process.
Planned gifts are a tremendous source of support for CCAC operations and the CCAC Educational Foundation’s endowment funds.
The importance of such gifts is honored through the Heritage Society (see above).
here are a few ways that planning for the future can benefit you and CCAC:
making a Bequest through your will
The foundation encourages alumni and friends—of all ages—to consider making a gift by bequest to CCAC. When making a bequest, you
can specify either a specific amount or a percentage of your residuary estate to be gifted to CCAC through your will. Bequests made from a
donor’s residuary estate are distributed only after payment of taxes, debts, settlement costs and general and specific bequests.
Whatever form of bequest you choose, it is not subject to estate or inheritance taxes and so significantly reduces the tax burden
of an estate. The value of the bequest may be deducted when the taxable estate is determined, and there is no limit to the deduction.
You may also specify how you would like the college to use your gift, which will enable you to support a program or area that is
important to you.
gifts that Pay you income for life
Do you want to support CCAC, but worry about having enough income for yourself and your loved ones? Life-income gifts such as
gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts can provide donors with an income stream, significant tax savings, and the satisfaction of
providing CCAC with vital, long-term resources.
Please contact Nancy Hart, director, Major Gifts Programs and Office Administration at 412.237.6575 or nhart@ccac.edu with any
questions you may have about planned giving and its impact on your estate. Thank you for keeping CCAC in mind as you plan for the future.
