A very small village farmhouse brewery established in 1878<br />

(but did not brew between 1968 and 1988). <strong>The</strong> Kerkom<br />

Brewery is a family operation built into a rambling farmhouse<br />

located in a rural area rich in cherry orchards.<br />

Kiuchi Shuzou, Ibaraki, Japan BU<br />

Kiuchi is a sake brewery founded in<br />

1823, which turned its hand to brewing<br />

top-fermented ales in 1996. <strong>The</strong>y are<br />

further diversifying, a distillery was<br />

added in 2003 - and the company will<br />

soon be moving into wine production.<br />

<strong>The</strong> brewery has won a number of<br />

awards globally over the last few years.<br />

somewhat lacking in body.<br />

Hitachino Nest Weizen (5.0%) * * * * D31 – Cloudy<br />

hefeweizen with notes of banana and citrus with a touch of<br />

cloves.<br />

Hitachino Nest White Ale (5.0%) * * * * B31 – Complex<br />

witbier featuring citrus, clove, and pepper.<br />

Hitachino Nest Japanese Classic Ale (7.0%) * * * * J26 –<br />

Hazy amber, spicy, yeasty, cedar-aged <strong>beer</strong>. Delicious.
