FOREWORD
The first issue of "Who's Who in Occult, Psychic and Spiritual Realms" has
been largely a labor of love in the interest of Seekers of Truth, with the intention
of providing them with a basis for the continuation of their studies along the lines
of the many different philosophies with which the world abounds, and in the realization
of the fact that there is truth in all of them. We are students of all, but
slaves of none.
Considerable "midnight oil" has been consumed in the preparation of this data,
and it has taken upwards of two years of constant application to bring out this
work in its present form.
In publishing the first issue of this book, we do so without apologies for weak
points in any one of the different departments, nor with any feeling of elation of
accomplishment, as we are only too well aware of our own shortcomings, which we
hope to remedy in future editions, but it must be borne in mind that up to the
present this work has been "a one-man job," while there is room for a dozen or
more. By the very nature of the work itself, however, it behooves us to bring this
out now, as perfection or we should say completeness can only be realized by actual
contact with the public most vitally interested in the contents thereof.
Much more information could have been brought to light, if those most directly
concerned had been either more prompt or more detailed in their replies to our
questionnaires, but this we hope will now be remedied by a demonstration of more
personal interest, since the nature and scope of the work has been visualized.
It behooves all those who are related to the nature of this work to keep us
fully advised of their activities, so as to enable us to amplify the various departments
covered, so that the names of all societies, their objects and aims, with their
affiliates together with addresses may be correctly represented.
It has been a great pleasure, and a measure of considerable personal gratification,
to have received hundreds of letters from illuminated minds, commending our
work, and we want to thank one and all of our army of well-wishers for the fuel
that kept our fires of effort burning.
We particularly want to thank the editors of the different magazines who continued
to supply us with copies of their periodicals to aid us in the pursuit of
material, such as "The Occult Review" and "Light'' of London; "La Revue
Spirite," "Revue Metapsychique" and "Archives du Spiritisme Mondial" of France;
"Psychische Studien," "Theosophisches Streben," "Die Weisse Fahne," "Zeitschrift
