The Knotty
Pine String Band
Sat 9 Mar | 8.00pm | £13.00
‘The Knotty Pine String Band’
formed in 1994 with a view to
bringing bluegrass music to
an audience which really knew
very little about the music and
its origins. Since then they have recorded many
albums including ‘Blood, Sweat And Bluegrass’, ‘Against The
Grain’ and ‘Whisky Before Breakfast’.
The band also have a strong country roots influence with songs
from the likes of John Prine, Kristofferson, Steve Goodman
and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Old standards such as ‘Duelling
Banjos’ and ‘The Orange Blossom’ are part of the programme.
A musical, story-telling event for all the family presented by
Quercus Ensemble. Come along and experience this fantastic
musical adaptation by the composer Paul Patterson of Roald
Dahl’s dark and funny take on the traditional fairy tale. BEWARE!
Prepare for a few of Roald Dahl’s twists and turns along the way
- this is not the story quite as you know it! The performance will
be accompanied by projected images of Quentin Blake’s original
illustrations. This production is supported by the Roald Dahl
Foundation and is subject to funding.
‘roald dahl understood what
made children tick, so i reckon
he would have approved of
this stunning adaptation
of little red riding hood...
unmissable!’ DAILY MAIL
