Dear AmCham Members,<br />
As I prepare to leave my post as uS Ambassador to <strong>Latvia</strong>, I am proud to say that the uS-<strong>Latvia</strong><br />
relationship has never been stronger. A key element <strong>of</strong> that relationship, and an important priority for<br />
the Embassy, has been – and will cont<strong>in</strong>ue to be – strengthen<strong>in</strong>g the economic ties that b<strong>in</strong>d the uS and<br />
<strong>Latvia</strong> together.<br />
Secretary hilary Cl<strong>in</strong>ton has said that when the uS confronts global challenges, Europe is our “partner<br />
<strong>of</strong> first resort.” I would like to borrow her phrase: When it comes to the Embassy’s economic agenda<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>, AmCham is the Embassy’s “partner <strong>of</strong> first resort.” Over the past three years, the Embassy<br />
and AmCham cooperated closely on issues such as <strong>in</strong>tellectual property rights’ protection, <strong>in</strong>novation<br />
and entrepreneurship, and reform <strong>of</strong> state-owned enterprises. Through its forward look<strong>in</strong>g, substantive<br />
events, AmCham has become a recognized leader <strong>in</strong> the advocacy for a stronger bus<strong>in</strong>ess climate <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>Latvia</strong>, and a valuable resource for <strong>American</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>esses. And through its tireless promotion <strong>of</strong> good<br />
corporate citizenship, AmCham has set a l<strong>of</strong>ty example for companies – both local and foreign – to<br />
follow.<br />
As you tackle the challenges <strong>of</strong> the com<strong>in</strong>g years, I wish you every success. I am confident that the<br />
partnership between the Embassy and AmCham will cont<strong>in</strong>ue to flourish, and pay dividends for both the<br />

Dear Members,<br />
Welcome to the 2012/2013 Membership <strong>Directory</strong> <strong>of</strong> the <strong>American</strong> <strong>Chamber</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Commerce</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>.<br />
Over the course <strong>of</strong> the past membership year, AmCham cont<strong>in</strong>ued to build on its record <strong>of</strong> success<br />
as the lead<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>ternational bus<strong>in</strong>ess organization <strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>, <strong>in</strong> provid<strong>in</strong>g its members with a forum to<br />
access key decision makers <strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>n bus<strong>in</strong>ess and politics.<br />
In order to improve the <strong>in</strong>vestment climate <strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>, we cont<strong>in</strong>ued to encourage bus<strong>in</strong>ess ethics and<br />
transparency by undertak<strong>in</strong>g jo<strong>in</strong>t efforts with other bus<strong>in</strong>ess organizations. We have ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed the<br />
<strong>Chamber</strong>’s thought leadership with our Outlook sem<strong>in</strong>ar series, provid<strong>in</strong>g you timely debates on the key<br />
economic and social issues <strong>of</strong> the day <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g on topics such as the <strong>in</strong>vestment climate, governance<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>’s ports, demographic change and the efficiency <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Latvia</strong>n court system. We have also<br />
taken <strong>in</strong>itiatives <strong>in</strong> advocacy, particularly focus<strong>in</strong>g on capital markets development, procurement and<br />
transport issues, thus mak<strong>in</strong>g our members’ concerns heard by policy-makers at the highest levels<br />
<strong>of</strong> government. you are <strong>in</strong>vited to take part <strong>in</strong> such advocacy efforts and raise issues relevant to your<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess, by participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the work<strong>in</strong>g groups <strong>of</strong> AmCham or the Foreign Investors’ Council <strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong><br />
(FICIL).<br />
AmCham will cont<strong>in</strong>ue to serve as a vibrant forum for the <strong>in</strong>ternational and local bus<strong>in</strong>ess communities<br />
to exchange views, network and connect with decision makers.<br />
