Message from the President
In 2003, Colgate University’s strategic plan
expressed our collective vision for the best possible
future for the university. Today, through the success
of Passion for the Climb: The Campaign for
Colgate, we have the good fortune to see some
of that plan’s major goals coming true.
During the past year, we opened two new buildings — the Robert H.N.
Ho Science Center and the Case Library and Geyer Center for Information
Technology — that ensure our faculty and students have the resources to create
and share knowledge across the disciplines. Through our institutes, we inspired
new ways of thinking and working together throughout our community.
And, thanks to your support, we continued to chart a course in student life
and residential education that will help our graduates become the kind of
compassionate individuals who can lead our world through the 21st century.
I offer my very special thanks to Chair Terry Egler ’77, P’07, P’11, who has so
ably helped shape Colgate’s future, as she turns the Presidents’ Club reins over
to Vice Chair Tom McGarrity ’79, P’10, who will lead you next year along
with Vice Chair Kim Avison Huffard ’87.
I am also pleased to recognize the generous members of both the James B.
Colgate Society and the Presidents’ Club. And I want to thank in advance the
13 benefactors who will be inducted into the James B. Colgate Society on
October 16 in recognition of their financial contributions of $1 million or more
during their lifetimes.
