Extraordinary Egypt<br />

Much more than its ancient marvels, multicultural Egypt is also famed for its customs and traditions.<br />

The arable lands of the Nile house the captivating capital, Cairo, founded in 969 AD by the Fatimid<br />

dynasty. This, the largest Arab city, boasts ancient antiquities and a plethora of medieval Islamic and<br />

Coptic Christian sites. The summer resort of Alexandria a is hub of museums; Luxor, the ‘world’s<br />

greatest open air museum’ is the site of the ancient city of Thebes; whilst Aswan is where the Nile<br />

is at its most beautiful, flowing through amber desert and granite rocks, the perfect spot to enjoy<br />

Nubian music and fresh fish. Nearby Abu Simbel boasts the twin temples of Ramses II and Queen<br />

Nefertari, the Red Sea is renowned for its clear azure waters and beach resorts; and no trip to<br />

Egypt is complete without a visit to the Giza Pyramids, sailing on a felucca and sipping mint tea.<br />

Jordanian Jewels<br />

The intriguing Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has been touched by the rich cultural influences of<br />

the Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Turks and Crusaders, and modern Jordan was<br />

founded by King Abdullah I after World War I. From the ancient city of Jerash, inhabited for more<br />

than 6,500 years, to the site where Jesus was reputedly baptised at ‘Bethany Beyond The Jordan’,<br />

to the vibrant capital, Amman, the Rose Red City of Petra’s spectacular pink hues to the therapeutic<br />

and legendary waters of the Dead Sea, a journey through Jordan is steeped in truly incredible<br />

history and promises a cultural extravaganza.<br />

Dubai Lights<br />

The most famous city within the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a highly cosmopolitan society<br />

with a diverse and vibrant culture. The influence of Islamic and Arab cultures on its architecture,<br />

music, attire, cuisine and lifestyle are prominent but in stark contrast to its opulent shopping malls,<br />

flamboyant hotels and glittering world sporting and cultural events.<br />

Exotic Oman<br />

The Sultanate of Oman is uniquely beautiful thanks to its combination of wadis, deserts, beaches,<br />

mountains and 1,700 kilometres of coastline. Its capital Muscat has been described as Arabia’s jewel,<br />

whilst the country’s geographical diversity ranges from the barren and rocky Hajar Mountains to<br />

stretches of sandy desert dunes. The old capital, Nizwa is famous for its souk and 12th century fort.<br />
